Does high body mass index (>25 kg/m2) or weight (>80 kg) reduce the effectiveness of anti‐D prophylaxis in Rh(D)‐negative pregnant women? A systematic review and meta‐analysis

open access: yesVox Sanguinis, Volume 119, Issue 9, Page 902-911, September 2024.
Abstract Background and Objectives Haemolytic disease of the foetus and newborn (HDFN) occurs when maternal antibodies, often triggered by foetal antigens, destroy foetal and neonatal red blood cells. Factors like antibody strength, quantity and gestational age influence HDFN severity.

Optical spectroscopy study of charge density wave order in Sr$_{3}$Rh$_{4}$Sn$_{13}$ and (Sr$_{0.5}$Ca$_{0.5}$)$_{3}$Rh$_{4}$Sn$_{13}$ [PDF]

open access: yesSci. China-Phys. Mech. Astron. 60, 047011 (2017), 2016
We perform optical spectroscopy measurement across the charge density wave (CDW) phase transitions on single-crystal samples of Sr$_{3}$Rh$_{4}$Sn$_{13}$ and (Sr$_{0.5}$Ca$_{0.5}$)$_{3}$Rh$_{4}$Sn$_{13}$. Formation of CDW energy gap was clearly observed for both single-crystal samples when they undergo the phase transitions.

Implementation of a prehospital whole blood program: Lessons learned

open access: yesJournal of the American College of Emergency Physicians Open, Volume 5, Issue 2, April 2024.
Abstract Early blood administration by Emergency Medical Services (EMS) to patients suffering from hemorrhagic shock improves outcomes. Prehospital blood programs represent an invaluable resuscitation capability that directly addresses hemorrhagic shock and mitigates subsequent multiple organ dysfunction syndrome.

A DFT+U study of Rh, Nb codoped rutile TiO2 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
A systematic study of electronic structure and band gap states is conducted to analyze the mono doping and charge compensated codoping of rutile TiO2 with Rh and Nb, using the DFT+U approach. Doping of rutile TiO2 with Rh atom induces hybridized O 2p and Rh 4d band gap states leading to a red shift of the optical absorption edge, consistent with ...

Pharmacokinetics and safety of brivaracetam in neonates with repeated electroencephalographic seizures: A multicenter, open‐label, single‐arm study

open access: yesEpilepsia Open, Volume 9, Issue 2, Page 522-533, April 2024.
Abstract Objective To evaluate the pharmacokinetics (PK), safety, and tolerability of brivaracetam (BRV) in neonates with repeated electroencephalographic seizures not controlled with previous antiseizure medications (ASMs). Methods Phase 2/3, multicenter, open‐label, single‐arm study (N01349/NCT03325439) in neonates with repeated ...

Comparison of the Detection Rate and Specificity of Irregular Red Blood Cell Antibodies Between First‐Time Pregnant Women and Women With a History of Multiple Pregnancies Among 18,010 Chinese Women

open access: yesJournal of Pregnancy, Volume 2024, Issue 1, 2024.
Background: There is insufficient evidence to assess the risk of the production of clinically important alloimmune irregular red blood cell (RBC) antibodies in first‐time pregnant women. Methods: Using the microcolumn gel antiglobulin method, 18,010 Chinese women with a history of pregnancy and pregnant women were screened for irregular RBC antibodies,

Spin state of Co$^{3+}$ in LaCo$_{1-x}$Rh$_{x}$O$_{3}$ investigated by structural phenomena [PDF]

open access: yesJ. Phys. Soc. Jpn. 82 (2013) 114606, 2013
Neutron diffraction for a polycrystalline sample of LaCo$_{0.8}$Rh$_{0.2}$O$_{3}$ and synchrotron x-ray diffraction for polycrystalline samples of LaCo$_{0.9}$Rh$_{0.1}$O$_{3}$ and LaCo$_{0.8}$Rh$_{0.2}$O$_{3}$ have been carried out in order to investigate the structural properties related with the spin state of Co$^{3+}$ ions.

Hepatic Failure and Hyperbilirubinemia Secondary to Hemolytic Disease of the Newborn

open access: yesCase Reports in Pediatrics, Volume 2024, Issue 1, 2024.
Anti‐D antibody is the most common cause of hemolytic disease of the newborn (HDN). Other antigens have emerged, causing significant damage to the newborn. We report a case of a 31‐week dichorionic diamniotic twin born emergently to a mother with anti‐C and anti‐D antibodies who required multiple percutaneous umbilical cord blood sampling (PUBS) and ...

Recurrent Cystic Hygroma with Normal Karyotype in Two Consecutive Pregnancies

open access: yesGynecology Obstetrics & Reproductive Medicine, 2016
We herein describe a woman with two consecutive pregnancies affected by fetal nuchal cystic hygroma (CH) with a normal karyotype. A 33-year-old woman (gravidity 2, parity 1) was referred to us because of fetal hydrops.
