Hayes Yard virus: a novel ephemerovirus isolated from a bull with severe clinical signs of bovine ephemeral fever is most closely related to Puchong virus

open access: yesVeterinary Research, 2020
Bovine ephemeral fever is a vector-borne disease of ruminants that occurs in tropical and sub-tropical regions of Africa, Asia and Australia. The disease is caused by a rhabdovirus, bovine ephemeral fever virus (BEFV), which occurs as a single serotype ...

Increasing versatility of the DNA vaccines through modification of the subcellular location of plasmid-encoded antigen expression in the in vivo transfected cells. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2013
The route of administration of DNA vaccines can play a key role in the magnitude and quality of the immune response triggered after their administration.

Global distribution and contexts of interactions between humans and non‐human primates: A systematic review

open access: yesPeople and Nature, Volume 8, Issue 3, Page 551-568, March 2026.
Abstract Understanding the frequency and socio‐ecological drivers of contacts between humans and non‐human primates (NHPs) is crucial for enhancing coexistence that favours NHP conservation, while limiting negative consequences such as aggressions and cross‐species disease transmission.

Evolution of genome size and complexity in the rhabdoviridae.

open access: yesPLoS Pathogens, 2015
RNA viruses exhibit substantial structural, ecological and genomic diversity. However, genome size in RNA viruses is likely limited by a high mutation rate, resulting in the evolution of various mechanisms to increase complexity while minimising genome ...

A new cluster of rhabdovirus detected in field-caught sand flies (Diptera: Psychodidae: Phlebotominae) collected from southern Thailand

open access: yesParasites & Vectors, 2021
Background The distribution of phlebotomine sand flies is changing rapidly due to climate change. This issue has implications for the epidemiology of sand fly-borne diseases, especially sand fly-associated viruses.

Intramuscular DNA Vaccination of Juvenile Carp against Spring Viremia of Carp Virus Induces Full Protection and Establishes a Virus-Specific B and T Cell Response [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Although spring viremia of carp virus (SVCV) can cause high mortalities in common carp, a commercial vaccine is not available for worldwide use. Here, we report a DNA vaccine based on the expression of the SVCV glycoprotein (G) which, when injected in ...

Mathematical Modeling of the Role of Cytokines in Sindbis Virus Treatment of Glioblastoma

open access: yesCPT: Pharmacometrics &Systems Pharmacology, Volume 15, Issue 2, February 2026.
ABSTRACT Oncolytic viruses, specifically Sindbis virus (SINV), combined with cytokines show promising results in slowing glioma progression, but a quantitative understanding of their effects remains limited. In this study, we use an ordinary differential equation (ODE) model to examine the effect of adding cytokines to oncolytic SINV therapy.

Comparative analysis of the acute response of the trout, O. mykiss, head kidney to in vivo challenge with virulent and attenuated infectious hematopoietic necrosis virus and LPS-induced inflammation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Background: The response of the trout, O. mykiss, head kidney to bacterial lipopolysaccharide (LPS) or active and attenuated infectious hematopoietic necrosis virus (IHNV and attINHV respectively) intraperitoneal challenge, 24 and 72 hours post-injection,

VHSV and IHNV in the Environment: Assessment and Comparison of eRNA‐Based Methods for Detection in Aquaculture

open access: yesEnvironmental DNA, Volume 8, Issue 1, January–February 2026.
VHSV and IHNV molecular detection in environmental samples was tested in controlled infection trials. We show that, in water, detected viral eRNA copies correlate with infectious particle numbers. After comparison of viral concentration methods from water, we demonstrate the feasibility of filter‐based eRNA detection in IHNV‐positive aquaculture farms.

Identification, molecular characterization and phylogenetic analysis of a novel nucleorhabdovirus infecting Paris polyphylla var. yunnanensis

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2023
A novel betanucleorhabdovirus infecting Paris polyphylla var. yunnanensis, tentatively named Paris yunnanensis rhabdovirus 1 (PyRV1), was recently identified in Yunnan Province, China.
