Occurrence of natural triploidy in Rhamdia quelen (Siluriformes, Heptapteridae)

open access: yesGenetics and Molecular Research, 2010
Five specimens of Rhamdia quelen collected from the Lindóia Stream, PR, Brazil, were cytogenetically analyzed. The diploid chromosome number found was 58, including 30 metacentric, 16 submetacentric, 10 subtelocentric, and 2 acrocentric chromosomes. Supernumerary or B chromosomes, frequently observed in this fish group, were not detected.

Subchronic effects of dipyrone on the fish species Rhamdia quelen

open access: yesEcotoxicology and Environmental Safety, 2011
The use of the non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as dipyrone is so widespread that this drug and its metabolites have been detected in effluents and surface water. This study aimed to evaluate the potential toxic effects of dipyrone on the aquatic environment, using a native fish species, Rhamdia quelen.

Stress response of Rhamdia quelen to the interaction stocking density – Feeding regimen

open access: yesGeneral and Comparative Endocrinology, 2023
This study aimed to verify the effect of different feeding and stocking conditions during 14 days on the gene expression of several hormones and enzymes related to the stress cascade and metabolic parameters in silver catfish Rhamdia quelen under the following experimental conditions: 1) fed at low stocking density (2.5 kg m-3, LSD-F); 2) fed at high ...
