Evidence for the true type-locality of Rhamdia quelen (Siluriformes: Heptapteridae), and the geographical origin and invalid neotype designation of four of its synonyms [PDF]
Historical information on the probable type-locality of Pimelodus quelen and of its four junior synonyms that share the same neotype, Pimelodus namdia, Pimelodus sebae, Heterobranchus sextentaculatus, and Silurus rivularis, is presented and discussed ...

Occurrence of natural triploidy in Rhamdia quelen (Siluriformes, Heptapteridae)
Five specimens of Rhamdia quelen collected from the Lindóia Stream, PR, Brazil, were cytogenetically analyzed. The diploid chromosome number found was 58, including 30 metacentric, 16 submetacentric, 10 subtelocentric, and 2 acrocentric chromosomes. Supernumerary or B chromosomes, frequently observed in this fish group, were not detected.

Abstract This work aimed to investigate the distribution and occurrence of fish species along the São Francisco Falso Braço Norte (SFFBN) River basin, a tributary of the Middle Paraná River basin now artificially connected to the Upper Paraná ecoregion, to evaluate how such connectivity may affect the biogeographic distribution and regional composition

This study used environmental DNA (eDNA) metabarcoding to assess vertebrate biodiversity in headwater streams of the Rio Santo Antônio basin, southeastern Brazil, a tributary of the Rio Doce. A total of 119 vertebrate OTUs were identified, with oxidation–reduction potential emerging as the strongest environmental predictor of species richness.
