Evolutionary conservation-evaluating the adaptive potential of species [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Despite intense efforts, biodiversity around the globe continues to decrease. To cease this phenomenon, we urgently need a better knowledge not only of the true extent of biodiversity, but also of the evolutionary potential of species to respond to ...

Occurrence of Lagovirus europaeus (Rabbit Hemorrhagic Disease Virus) in Domestic Rabbits in Southwestern Poland in 2019: Case Report

open access: yesMicrobiology Spectrum, 2022
Lagovirus europaeus (rabbit hemorrhagic disease virus [RHDV]) is a small, nonenveloped, single-stranded RNA virus that causes a severe, highly infectious, and fatal disease in rabbits (Oryctolagus cuniculus) called rabbit hemorrhagic disease (RHD). Since

Modeling the response of an endangered rabbit population to RHDV2 and vaccination

open access: yesConservation Science and Practice, Volume 6, Issue 2, February 2024.
We developed a model of RHDV2 transmission dynamics and riparian brush rabbit population dynamics to evaluate the potential effectiveness of a vaccination strategy for this population. The model includes the potential effects of nontarget rabbit species as carriers and reservoirs of the disease, as well as environmental transmission.

Construction and applications of rabbit hemorrhagic disease virus replicon. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2013
The study of rabbit hemorrhagic disease virus (RHDV) has long been hindered by the absence of an in vitro culture system. In this study, using RHDV as a model, a series of DNA-based reporter replicons were constructed in which the firefly luciferase ...

België ontsnapt niet aan het 'rabbit hemorrhagic disease virus-2' [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Since 2016, an extensive spread of RHDV2, a virus variant of the classical rabbit hemorrhagic disease virus (RHDV) is ongoing in the Belgian rabbit population. Both variants of the virus usually cause acute death without prior symptoms.

Self-disseminating vaccines for emerging infectious diseases. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Modern human activity fueled by economic development is profoundly altering our relationship with microorganisms. This altered interaction with microbes is believed to be the major driving force behind the increased rate of emerging infectious diseases ...

A sensitive and specific blocking ELISA for the detection of rabbit calicivirus RCV-A1 antibodies

open access: yesVirology Journal, 2012
Background Antibodies to non-pathogenic rabbit caliciviruses (RCVs) cross-react in serological tests for rabbit hemorrhagic disease virus (RHDV) and vice versa, making epidemiological studies very difficult where both viruses occur.

Clinical chemistry, haematology, immune response and histological evaluation of rabbits after immunisation and challenge with rabbit haemorrhagic disease (RHD) virus [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Following their immunisation and infection with a VSHI-CN-6 viral strain, a group of 15 rabbits were examined in a study of Rabbit Haemorrhagic Disease (RHD).

Effect of propionobacterium and E.Coli lipopolysaccharide (inmunair 17.5) immunomodulator on response of rabbits to RHDV vaccine

open access: yesJournal of Veterinary Medical Research, 2018
The present study was conducted to study the immunomodulatory effect of combined of extract of propionobacterium and E.coli lipopolysaccharide (inmunair 17.5) to enhance the immune response of rabbits to rabbit haemorrhagic disease virus (RHDV) vaccine ...
