A Rheological Model for Magneto-rheological Fluids

Journal of Intelligent Material Systems and Structures, 2009
The article presents a rheological model for magnetorheological fluids (MRF) by blending a quasi-newtonian behavior at very low shear stress with a Herschel—Bulkley model for large shear stress value where the suspension displays a shear-thinning behavior.

Rheological modelling of leukocytes

Medical & Biological Engineering & Computing, 1998
A three-layer Newtonian model is investigated using a combined Eulerian-Lagrangian computational method to describe the dynamic behaviour of leukocytes. The model, composed of a cell membrane (outer layer), cytoplasm (middle layer) and nucleus (inner layer), can better describe the recovery characteristics because large viscosity and capillarity ...

Rheological models with microstructural constraints

Rheologica Acta, 2003
Rheological models of complex fluids with a physically restricted microstructure are analyzed to obtain general classes of dynamical evolution equations for these materials. These classes insure that the appropriate mathematical constraints, associated with each type of physical restriction, are consistently incorporated into the corresponding model ...

Conformation tensor rheological models

Journal of Non-Newtonian Fluid Mechanics, 1987
A systematic study of conformation tensor rheological models is presented in this paper. The approach unifies and extends results obtained previously by Hand, Giesekus, and Maugin and Drouot. Rheological properties that are independent of details of the conformational dependence of the intrasegmental force and the mobility are identified. A closed form

New rheological model for soil behaviour

International Journal of Rock Mechanics and Mining Sciences & Geomechanics Abstracts, 1974
A new rheological model for soil behavior, which consists of a series of Bingham and Voigt models, was proposed from uniaxial creep test results. This model, which is called the visco-plastic-elastic model, may suffice to explain the state changes of soil based on state of water content and stress level.

Rheological complexity in simple chain models

The Journal of Chemical Physics, 2008
Dynamical properties of short freely jointed and freely rotating chains are studied using molecular dynamics simulations. These results are combined with those of previous studies, and the degree of rheological complexity of the two models is assessed.

Rheological-Model Concept

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1964
The theory of rheological models considers series and parallel combinations of lumped elements that are assumed to behave mechanically like the constituent phases of a material, but that, apart from this mechanical behavior, have nothing in common with the real medium. Usually, the elements are elastic springs, viscous dashpots, and dry-friction bodies.
