A Tracy-Widom Empirical Estimator For Valid P-values With High-Dimensional Datasets [PDF]
Recent technological advances in many domains including both genomics and brain imaging have led to an abundance of high-dimensional and correlated data being routinely collected. Classical multivariate approaches like Multivariate Analysis of Variance (MANOVA) and Canonical Correlation Analysis (CCA) can be used to study relationships between such ...

Objective Targeted synthetic disease‐modifying antirheumatic drugs (tsDMARDs) have expanded the management of autoimmune diseases, including rheumatic diseases. As the use of these drugs grows, it is important to understand their effects on pregnancy.

Using Near Infrared Spectroscopy and Machine Learning to diagnose Systemic Sclerosis [PDF]
The motivation of this work is the use of non-invasive and low cost techniques to obtain a faster and more accurate diagnosis of systemic sclerosis (SSc), rheumatic, autoimmune, chronic and rare disease. The technique in question is Near Infrared Spectroscopy (NIRS). Spectra were acquired from three different regions of hand's volunteers.

Mixture of Input-Output Hidden Markov Models for Heterogeneous Disease Progression Modeling [PDF]
A particular challenge for disease progression modeling is the heterogeneity of a disease and its manifestations in the patients. Existing approaches often assume the presence of a single disease progression characteristics which is unlikely for neurodegenerative disorders such as Parkinson's disease.

Rheumatic diseases and pregnancy
Rheumatic diseases predominantly affect young women of childbearing age; therefore pregnancy is a topic of major interest. Pregnancyinduced changes in immune function can have an effect on underlying disease activity. Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), the most common autoimmune disease affecting women during their reproductive years, has an increased

Objective Posttraumatic osteoarthritis (PTOA) accounts for nearly 12% of osteoarthritis incidences and often occurs after anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tear. Ensuring the uptake of preventive treatments for PTOA requires that investigators and clinicians understand factors influencing patients to seek preventive therapies.

Objective We aimed to assess differences in baseline characteristics, efficacy, and safety of advanced therapies between male and female patients with axial spondyloarthritis (axSpA) in randomized controlled trials (RCTs). Methods We conducted a systematic literature search for RCTs assessing the efficacy of advanced therapies in patients with axSpA ...

Modeling the Association Structure in Doubly Robust GEE for Longitudinal Ordinal Missing Data [PDF]
Generalized Estimation Equations (GEE) are a well-known method for the analysis of categorical longitudinal responses. GEE method has computational simplicity and population parameter interpretation. In the presence of missing data it is only valid under the strong assumption of missing completely at random.

RHEUMATIC DISEASES OF THE EYE. [PDF]
That the eye should be subject to rheumatic disease does not seem strange when we remember that its principal protective coat is a dense fibrous structure, the sclerotic; that it contains within it the delicate muscular fibers of the iris and ciliary body, and externally the muscular bands which move it about; that it is very vascular, one coat alone ...
