Chinese Guidelines for Diagnosis and Treatment of Chronic Rhinosinusitis (2024)

open access: yesWorld Journal of Otorhinolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery, Volume 12, Issue 1, Page 25-55, February 2026.
ABSTRACT Chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS), a complex inflammatory disease with heterogeneous pathogenesis, demands evolving evidence‐based strategies. Since the 2018 Chinese guidelines and EPOS2020, international advances in CRS immunopathology and biologics have revolutionized therapeutic approaches, particularly through phenotype–endotype classification ...

Nasal Septal Perforation Secondary to Rhinitis Medicamentosa [PDF]

open access: yesEar, Nose & Throat Journal, 2006
Nasal septal perforation is a rarely reported complication of rhinitis medicamentosa. We describe such a complication in a 54-year-old man, and we discuss the clinical, pathologic, and imaging aspects of this case.

Evaluation of Histopathological Changes of Long-Term Use of Sodium Cromoglycate on Healthy Rat Nasal Respiratory Mucosa with Light Microscopy

open access: yesTurkish Archives of Otorhinolaryngology, 2013
Objective:To demonstrate the histopathological effects of the long-term use of cromolyn sodium on healthy rat nasal mucosa using the light microscope. Methods:The animals were grouped according to the intranasal administered agents: first group (n=10 ...

Rhinitis medicamentosa.

open access: yesJournal of investigational allergology & clinical immunology, 2006
Rhinitis medicamentosa (RM) is a condition induced by overuse of nasal decongestants. The term RM, also called rebound or chemical rhinitis, is also used to describe the adverse nasal congestion that develops after using medications other than topical decongestants.

Temporal Trends in and Patient Characteristics Associated with Surgery for Otitis Media

open access: yesThe Laryngoscope, Volume 135, Issue 5, Page 1821-1829, May 2025.
In this study, the tympanostomy tube insertion (TTI) rate was 5.3%, which increased to approximately 20% in children with history of otitis media. Though multiple characteristics increase the risk of TTI, sensorineural hearing loss for TTI alone, and age 4–8 years at time of presentation in the TTI‐A subset carried the highest risk.

Temperature‐controlled radiofrequency ablation for the treatment of chronic rhinitis: Two‐year outcomes from a prospective multicenter trial

open access: yesInternational Forum of Allergy &Rhinology, Volume 14, Issue 7, Page 1182-1194, July 2024.
Abstract Background Minimally invasive temperature‐controlled radiofrequency (TCRF) ablation of the posterior nasal nerve (PNN) demonstrated a significant larger treatment effect on the symptom burden of chronic rhinitis patients than a sham control (no energy delivery) at the 3‐month primary endpoint of this trial.

Acoustic resonance therapy is safe and effective for the treatment of nasal congestion in rhinitis: A randomized sham‐controlled trial

open access: yesInternational Forum of Allergy &Rhinology, Volume 14, Issue 5, Page 919-927, May 2024.
Abstract Background Acoustic resonance therapy (ART) is a novel vibrational treatment that delivers patient‐specific resonant frequency acoustic energy to the sinonasal cavities. In a pilot study, ART was effective for the acute treatment of nasal congestion.

The treatment of drug-induced rhinitis with an original intranasal combination: Efficacy and safety in experimental animals

open access: yesФармация и фармакология (Пятигорск)
Rhinitis medicamentosa (RM) is a common complication of prolonged use of nasal decongestants, leading to structural changes in the nasal mucosa. Despite the effectiveness of intranasal glucocorticosteroids, their use may be accompanied by side effects ...

Two‐Year Outcomes After Radiofrequency Neurolysis of Posterior Nasal Nerve in Chronic Rhinitis

open access: yesThe Laryngoscope, Volume 134, Issue 5, Page 2077-2084, May 2024.
In a prospective, single‐arm study, 129 chronic rhinitis patients at 16 centers (United States, Germany) were treated with minimally invasive temperature‐controlled radiofrequency neurolysis of the posterior nasal nerve. Clinical (rTNSS) and quality of life (MiniRQLQ) outcomes were significantly improved over pretreatment baseline at 3 months and ...

Rhinitis medicamentosa.

open access: yesCanadian Medical Association journal, 1980
Rhinitis medicamentosa, the syndrome of rebound nasal congestion secondary to prolonged topical intranasal use of vasoconstrictors, is reviewed. In this condition, the nasal airway is very obstructed; atrophic rhinitis is the most serious complication. Management consists of withdrawing the offending nasal spray and alleviating the nasal obstruction by
