Heat resistance in Rhizobium

Seven of eight Rhizobium strains survived 70° C but not 80° C for half an hour in liquid media. The proportion of cells surviving heat treatment varied with the composition of the media and the age of the cultures, but did never exceed 0.7%. The possibility of Rhizobium radiobacter strains isolated from rhizosphere of winter wheat to produce phytohormones of stimulatory action at use of methods of biotesting was established. It was shown, that bacterial culture liquid possesses high auxin, gibberellin and cytokinin activity at dilution ratio 1:10 and 1:100.
