Animal models of Zygomycosis – Absidia, Rhizopus, Rhizomucor, and Cunninghamella
Mycopathologia, 2001Infections caused by zygomycetes, which have been increasing in recent years, are known for their difficulty of diagnosis and treatment. Because little is known about this fungus and its infection, vigorous research is now in serious demand. As in many other systemic mycoses, animal model studies are essential in the investigation of zygomycosis ...

Integrative transformation of the zygomycete Rhizomucor pusillus by homologous recombination
Applied Microbiology and Biotechnology, 1996For development of a homologous transformation system for the zygomycete fungus, Rhizomucor pusillus, the isopropylmalate isomerase (leuA) gene was cloned from R. pusillus IFO 4578 by the DNA-probing method with the leuA sequence of Mucor circinelloides as probe. The nucleotide sequence revealed that leuA of R. pusillus encoded a 755-amino-acid protein

Effects of temperature and pressure on Rhizomucor miehei lipase stability
Journal of Biotechnology, 2003Both high temperature and high hydrostatic pressure induce irreversible deactivation of enzymes. They enable the enzyme's thermodynamic parameters to be determined and are used to study the mechanisms involved in biochemical systems. The effect of these two factors on the stability of Rhizomucor miehei lipase have been investigated.

Synthesis of ethyl isovalerate using Rhizomucor miehei lipase: optimization.
Prikladnaia biokhimiia i mikrobiologiia, 2003Immobilized lipase from Rhizomucor miehei (Lipozyme IM-20) was used to catalyze the esterification reaction between isovaleric acid and ethanol to synthesize ethyl isovalerate in n-hexane. Response surface methodology based on five-level four-variable central composite rotatable design was employed to optimize four important reaction variables such as ...

A new β-glucosidase gene from the zygomycete fungus Rhizomucor miehei
Antonie van Leeuwenhoek, 2009In this study, a beta-glucosidase coding gene (bgl) of the zygomycete fungus Rhizomucor miehei has been cloned and characterized. The gene comprises a total of 2,826 bp including the coding sequence of a 717 amino acids length putative protein and 10 introns dispersed in the whole coding region. The putative N-and C-terminal catalytic domains (aa 68 to

Highly thermostable xylanase purified fromRhizomucor mieheiNRL 3169
Acta Biologica Hungarica, 2011A thermostable xylanase was purified and characterized from the thermophilic fungus Rhizomucor miehei (Cooney & Emerson) Schipper. The enzyme was purified to homogeneity by ammonium sulfate precipitation, sephadex G-100 gel filtration and diethylaminoethyl cellulose anion exchange chromatography with a 29.1-fold.

Heat shock response in the thermophilic fungus Rhizomucor miehei
Microbiology, 2014Changes in the composition of the membrane lipids and cytosol carbohydrates of the thermophilic fungus Rhizomucor miehei in response to heat shock were studied. Under optimal conditions (41–43°C), high trehalose content (8–11%) was found at all stages of growth of submerged culture.

Nosocomial infection by Rhizomucor pusillus in a clinical haematology unit
Journal of Hospital Infection, 1983Three patients suffering from acute leukaemia were treated with cytotoxic agents and broad-spectrum antibiotics and received blood transfusion and nasal packing for severe epistaxis. All developed necrosis of nasal and facial tissues, with facial swelling an oedema; two biopsies showed typical phycomycete mycelium, and Rhizomucor pusillus was grown ...
