THE GERMINATION OF ZYGOSPORES OF RHIZOPUS STOLONIFER
American Journal of Botany, 1961Gauger, Wendell L. (U. Nebraska, Lincoln.) The germination of zygospores of Rhizopus stolonifer. Amer. Jour. Bot. 48(5): 427–429. Illus. 1961.—Zygospores of R. stolonifer (Ehrenb. ex Fr.) Vuill. germinated in less than 30 days when placed on filter disks kept moist with sterile distilled water.

Polyphasic approach to the taxonomy of the Rhizopus stolonifer group
Mycological Research, 2007Phylogenetic analysis of Rhizopus strains based on the D1/D2 region of LSU rDNA sequences yielded a phylogram with four well-supported clades. The R. microsporus clade concurs with classification obtained by traditional methods. The R. oryzae group was found to include species of the genus Amylomyces. The traditional R.

Cerulenin inhibition of spore germination in Rhizopus stolonifer
Experimental Mycology, 1978We have used cerulenin, a known inhibitor of fatty acid synthesis, to study essential fatty acid and membrane syntheses during spore germination. Cerulenin (4 μg/ml) prevented the germination of Rhizopus stolonifer sporangiospores and this inhibition was reversed by Tween 80.

Nuclease Rsn from Rhizopus stolonifer: specificity and mode of action
Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 2004Nuclease Rsn from Rhizopus stolonifer catalyzes the hydrolysis of ss- and dsDNA in a ratio of approximately 2:1. Time course of 3' and 5' terminal analysis of the hydrolytic products of ss- and dsDNA showed that nuclease Rsn does not show any strict base preference and cleaves DNA in a non-specific manner.

Rhizopus stolonifer mediated biosynthesis of biocompatible cadmium chalcogenide quantum dots
Enzyme and Microbial Technology, 2016We report an efficient method to biosynthesize biocompatible cadmium telluride and cadmium sulphide quantum dots from the fungus Rhizopus stolonifer. The suspension of the quantum dots exhibited purple and greenish-blue luminescence respectively upon UV light illumination.

Optimization of medium for extracellular nuclease formation from Rhizopus stolonifer
World Journal of Microbiology and Biotechnology, 1993A strain of Rhizopus stolonifer produced a high activity of extracellular DNAase when grown on YPG (yeast extract peptone glucose) medium. The source of peptone had a marked effect on the enzyme yield and only one peptone (i.e. from Sarabhai M. Chemicals Ltd, India) supported enzyme production.

Equine pulmonary mycosis due to Aspergillus niger and Rhizopus stolonifer
Journal of Comparative Pathology, 1997Invasive pulmonary mycosis caused by Aspergillus niger and Rhizopus stolonifer is reported in a 2-year-old horse, one of three that died after being housed in a disused, uncleaned stable. Lesions were characterized by thrombosis of the blood vessels with haemorrhage and tissue necrosis.

Hydroxylation of the sesterterpene leucosceptrine by the fungus Rhizopus stolonifer
Phytochemistry, 2006The microbial transformation of leucosceptrine (1), the first member of class leucosesterterpenes, by Rhizopus stolonifer afforded two metabolites, 1alpha-hydroxyleucosceptrine (2), and 8alpha-hydroxyleucosceptrine (3).

Direct penetration of Rhizopus stolonifer into stone fruits causing rhizopus rot
Plant Pathology, 2015Rhizopus rot, caused by Rhizopus stolonifer , is a major postharvest disease of stone fruits. The disease is related to the occurrence of mechanical and physical damage; however, observations at a Brazilian wholesale market suggest that direct penetration can occur. Therefore, the penetration
