Studies on the Production of Citric Acid by Rhizopus stolonifer

American Chemical Science Journal, 2015
A fermentation process was developed for citric acid production from orange peel waste by Rhizopus stolonifer. In a screening programme to select the best citric acid producing fungus, it was showed that after 3 days of incubation, the amount of citric acid in the screening medium varied depending on the isolate used.

The mitochondrial respiratory chain of Rhizopus stolonifer (Ehrenb.:Fr.) Vuill

Archives of Microbiology, 2012
Rhizopus stolonifer (Ehrenb.:Fr.) Vuill mitochondria contain the complete system for oxidative phosphorylation, formed by the classical components of the electron transport chain (complexes I, II, III, and IV) and the F(1)F(0)-ATP synthase (complex V).

Lomasome development in Rhizopus stolonifer sporangiospores during anaerobiosis

Canadian Journal of Microbiology, 1973
Numerous well-developed lomasomes appeared in Rhizopus stolonifer sporangiospores in response to anoxia. The lomasomes usually appeared between the plasmalemma and the inner cell wall, though some were found as deeply invaginated channels of the plasmalemma. Hence, lomasome configuration depended on the sectioning plane of the spore.
