Plasmid Transfer in Soil and Rhizosphere

1988
Transfer of plasmids pFT30 and RP4 between newly-introduced bacilli and pseudomonads, respectively, is described. In sterile soil, transfer of pFT30 was only detected when exogenous nutrients were added; bentonite clay significantly enhanced the transfer frequency.

Dynamics of the rhizosphere effect in soils

Eurasian Soil Science, 2013
In a greenhouse experiment with continuous labeling of oat plants in a 13CO2 atmosphere, the ratios between different carbon and nitrogen pools in the rhizosphere and nonrhizosphere soil, i.e., the values of the rhizosphere factor R f , were determined.

Determination of the extent of rhizosphere soil

Communications in Soil Science and Plant Analysis, 1997
Abstract The extent of the rhizosphere was investigated by using root volume and root length in ten replications. The experiment was conducted using split cylindrical pots, 23 cm long and 7.5 cm in diameter. Sorghum (Sorghum bicolor) plants were grown in a calcareous soil of low phosphorus (P) status.

Inoculation of Microorganisms into the Soil and Rhizosphere

From a microbiome engineering perspective, one of the most widely used strategies enabling the microbial community manipulation of plant holobiont is inoculation with plant growth-promoting microorganisms. There are several factors to consider when designing a microbial inoculation strategy, such as the site and moment of inoculation, production scales,

Soil health: The importance of the rhizosphere

Open Access Government
Soil health: The importance of the rhizosphere Lynette Abbott, Emerita Professor, The University of Western Australia School of Agriculture and Environment and UWA Institute of Agriculture, examines how the rhizosphere, a narrow collar of soil clinging to plant roots, is emerging as a key player in soil and ...
