Sensory Signalling in Rhodobacter Sphaeroides

1990
Motile bacteria actively swim about their environment, randomly changing direction every few seconds. When faced with a gradient of a chemical they alter the frequency of direction changing to bias their overall direction towards a favourable environment.

Biotransformation of β-amyrin acetate by Rhodobacter sphaeroides

Journal of Bioscience and Bioengineering, 2008
The microbial transformation of beta-amyrin acetate (compound 1) occurred in the culture of Rhodobacter sphaeroides producing three metabolites. The metabolites were purified and identified as beta-amyrin (compound 2), (3beta)-olean-12-ene-3, 23-diol (compound 3), and erythrodiol (compound 4).

Bioremediation of lead contaminated soil with Rhodobacter sphaeroides

Chemosphere, 2016
Bioremediation with microorganisms is a promising technique for heavy metal contaminated soil. Rhodobacter sphaeroides was previously isolated from oil field injection water and used for bioremediation of lead (Pb) contaminated soil in the present study. Based on the investigation of the optimum culturing conditions and the tolerance to Pb, we employed

[Degradation of dichlorvos by Rhodobacter sphaeroides].

Huan jing ke xue= Huanjing kexue, 2009
Rhodobacter sphaeroides possesses an extensive range of energy acquiring mechanisms including photosynthesis, lithotrophy, aerobic and anaerobic respiration. It can produce 5-aminolevulinic acid, CoQ10, carotenoids, hydrogen, etc. by fermentation. A Rhodobacter sphaeroides strain was isolated, designated as EBL0706, from soil.

We experimentally investigated kinetics of the reaction centers (RCs) optical absorbance at the different exposition times (from 0.1 s to 400 s) of actinic light at two temperatures (T1 ???3 ??C and T2 ??? 22 ??C). At short photoexcitation times (less 1 s) the optical absorbance kinetics under illumination and after turning it off was the same in both ...
