The Effect of Feeding With Acartia tonsa on the Ontogeny of Gilthead Seabream Larvae (Sparus aurata)

open access: yesAquaculture Research, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
The current study examined how feeding gilthead seabream with copepod Acartia tonsa impacts the ontogeny of the digestive system and the skeleton. Six cylindroconical tanks of 100 L each were stocked with 10,000 seabream eggs. In three tanks, Acartia tonsa was also administrated from 3 to 17 days after hatching (DAH) and Brachionus sp. until 25 DAH—end

Lake–Groundwater Biogeochemical Interactions in a River‐Delimited System: The Groundwater and Lakes Urban Observatory (GLUO)

open access: yesInternational Review of Hydrobiology, Volume 110, Issue 2, Page 135-150, December 2025.
ABSTRACT Preservation of urban aquatic ecosystems is of primary importance for human well‐being, biodiversity protection and the future of society. Lake–groundwater–river interactions within urban floodplains harbour intrinsic fragility, yet remain largely understudied.

Heatwave intensity drives eco‐physiological responses in infaunal bivalves: A mesocosm experiment

open access: yesLimnology and Oceanography, Volume 70, Issue S2, Page S417-S431, December 2025.
Abstract Marine heatwaves are increasing globally in intensity and duration. To investigate the potential consequences for coastal ecosystems, the effects of short‐term heat stress must be better understood. This study examined eco‐physiological responses in two common intertidal bivalves, Cerastoderma edule and Macoma balthica, to different heatwave ...

Preliminary Characterization of Extracellular Allelochemicals of the Toxic Marine Dinoflagellate Alexandrium tamarense Using a Rhodomonas salina Bioassay

open access: yesMarine Drugs, 2009
Members of the marine dinoflagellate genus Alexandrium are known to exude allelochemicals, unrelated to well-known neurotoxins (PSP-toxins, spirolides), with negative effects on other phytoplankton and marine grazers. Physico/chemical characterization of

Hydrological variability and connectivity shape floodplain microbial community dynamics

open access: yesLimnology and Oceanography, Volume 70, Issue 12, Page 3867-3882, December 2025.
Abstract Floodplains are dynamic interfaces between aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems, where ecosystem functioning is strongly influenced by microbial communities. To investigate the composition of free‐living and particle‐associated prokaryotic and microbial eukaryotic communities, five interconnected study sites were sampled in one of the best ...

Lysintensitetsoptimum for mikroalgen Rhodomonas salina [PDF]

open access: yes
Studien undersøker om det er en sammenheng mellom lysintensitet og formering av mikroalgen Rhodomonas salina. Hvis det kan påvises en sammenheng, kan mikroalgen bidra til å løse klimakrisen gjennom karbonfiksering.

Chloroplast symbiosis in a marine ciliate: ecophysiology and the risks and rewards of hosting foreign organelles

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2012
Simultaneous use of both heterotrophic and autotrophic metabolism (mixotrophy) is common among protists. Strombidium rassoulzadegani is a planktonic mixotrophic marine ciliate that saves chloroplasts from its algal food and obtains a nutritional subsidy

Acute and long‐term warming effects on the functional response and reproductive efficiency of marine copepods

open access: yesLimnology and Oceanography, Volume 70, Issue 12, Page 3898-3911, December 2025.
Abstract The impact of climate change stressors on marine copepods, key organisms at the base of ocean food webs, remains understudied. This study examined how warming affects their functional and numerical responses, critical life history traits linked to fitness.

Efficient purification and characterization of high-purity phycoerythrin 545 from Rhodomonas sp.

open access: yes, 2022
Abstract Cryptomonad phycoerythrin 545 is an important type of phycobiliprotein in basic research and technological innovations. Herein, we report a minimalistic hydrophobic chromatography method for its purification. High purity was achieved, with a purity ratio (A545/A280) of 13.66 and a recovery ratio of 78.63%. Following SDS-PAGE, Coomassie
