Cytochrome P-450-dependent catabolism of triethanolamine in Rhodotorula mucilaginosa

Biodegradation, 1991
The yeast Rhodotorula mucilaginosa was able to grow in media containing triethanolamine or diethanolamine as the sole nitrogen source. During growth in the presence of triethanolamine, extracts of yeast cells contained increased levels of cytochrome P-450 dependent monooxygenase which catalyzed the oxidative N-dealkylation of aminoalcohols.

Free Gossypol Removal and Nutritional Value Enhancement of Cottonseed Meal via Solid-State Fermentation with Rhodotorula mucilaginosa TG529

Agriculture
The presence of free gossypol (FG) in cottonseed meal (CSM) greatly limits the use of CSM as a high-quality protein feed. Microbial fermentation is an effective method to simultaneously reduce FG and improve the nutritional value of CSM.
