Using DNA metabarcoding, this study investigates pollen transported by syrphids (Syrphidae) in the Dolomiti Bellunesi National Park and agricultural sites in Northern Italy. The analysis reveals a high diversity of visited plant taxa, including previously undocumented plant–pollinator interactions.

Barley yellow dwarf epidemiology [PDF]
Barley yellow dwarf (BYD) disease is induced by viruses that are vectored by aphids. The viruses infect grasses and cause severe damage on oats, barley and wheat worldwide.

Landscape and farm management influence generalist predators [PDF]
Chemical pest control is currently the dominant form of pest management against insect pests in agroecosystems, but has negative side effects. Biological control by specialist predators has been successful in greenhouses, but has not been successfully ...

Hamiltonella defensa infection increases honeydew production in certain aphid genotypes, potentially modifying aphid feeding behaviour. Parasitoid wasps, Aphidius ervi, are more attracted to honeydew from H. defensa‐infected aphids; though larger honeydew amounts may slightly deter searching.

Resistance of wheat cultivars to bird cherry-oat aphid, Rhopalosiphum padi (Hem.: Aphididae) [PDF]
The bird cherry-oat aphid, Rhopalosiphum padi (L.), is polyphagous with a nearly worldwide distribution and known as an important pest of wheat and the main vector of barley yellow dwarf virus.

Regional Susceptibilities ofRhopalosiphum padi(Hemiptera: Aphididae) to Ten Insecticides [PDF]
Abstract Rhopalosiphum padi (L.) (Hemiptera: Aphididae) is one of the most significant cereal pests worldwide. Control of R. padi has relied heavily on chemical insecticides. We sampled 12 populations of R. padi from 11 provinces in China and analyzed their regional susceptibilities to 10 insecticides by using the leaf dip method. The R.

Different BYDV‐PAV isolates exert contrasting effects on aphid fitness, including reproduction and winged production. Different BYDV‐PAV isolates have contrasting effects on aphid dispersal patterns. Aphid feeding behaviour is modulated by the presence of endosymbionts and plant viruses.
