Essential Oil Formulations From Salvia officinalis, Ormenis africana, and Mentha pulegium: Chemical Profiles and Insecticidal Activity Against Myzus persicae

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 6, June 2026.
The insecticidal potential of formulations based on Salvia officinalis, Ormenis africana, and Mentha pulegium essential oils was investigated against Myzus persicae. The combination of the three oils provided the most effective control, showing strong activity in laboratory assays and greenhouse trials.

Effect of climate on the proportion of males in the autumn flight of the aphid Rhopalosiphum padi L. (Hom., Aphididae)

open access: yes, 1998
The composition of autumn flights of a cereal pest aphid, Rhopalosiphum padi, was studied in relation to climate. At 10 sites in France and at Rothamsted and Starcross (UK), evidence was sought for a relationship between winter temperature and the ...

Native Regiella Endosymbionts Provide Strong Parasitoid Protection With Limited Impacts on Fitness and Virus Transmission in Myzus persicae

open access: yesEnvironmental Microbiology, Volume 28, Issue 6, June 2026.
Native Regiella insecticola in Myzus persicae provides strong protection against parasitoid wasps but imposes only modest reproductive costs and does not affect virus transmission. Despite stable vertical and horizontal transmission, these effects alone do not explain the low natural prevalence of **Regiella** in field populations.

Fecundity and development rate of the bird cherry-oat aphid, Rhopalosiphum padi (L) (Hom.: Aphididae) on six wheat cultivars

open access: yesPlant Protection Science, 2010
Rhopalosiphum padi is a polyphagous species with a nearly worldwide distribution. Biological parameters of this aphid on six commonly grown wheat cultivars in the Fars province including Chamran, Darab2, Shiraz, Ghods, Marvdasht and Niknezhad were ...

Is the endophyte‐based plant protection against aphids mediated by changes in the insect microbiome?

open access: yesInsect Science, Volume 33, Issue 3, Page 1097-1108, June 2026.
We showed that the fungal endophyte Epichloë strain AR37 increased the plant resistance against aphids via the production of indole diterpene alkaloids. The reduction in aphid performance was not associated with changes in abundance/composition/diversity of the insect's bacterial microbiota, but additional endophyte effects on this microbiota cannot be

Effect of gramine in the resistance of barley seedlings to the aphid Rhopalosiphum padi [PDF]

open access: yes, 1986
Gramine (N,N‐Dimethyl‐3‐aminomethylindole) content in various barley cultivars varied from 0 to 2.6 mmoles/kg fresh weight. Those cultivars which were lacking gramine were the most susceptible to the aphid Rhopalosiphum padi (L.).

Applying Baculovirus Surface Display Technology for Influenza Cytokine Profiling, Serological Detection and Antiviral Screening

open access: yesMicrobial Biotechnology, Volume 19, Issue 6, June 2026.
By displaying the hemagglutinin (HA) or neuraminidase (NA) proteins of influenza viruses on the surface of baculoviruses and infected insect cells, a safe and flexible pseudovirus system capable of performing cytokine analysis, serological detection and antiviral drug screening is established.
