BACTERIA ASSOCIATED TO RHYNCHOPHORUS FERRUGINEUS (OLIVIER) (COLEOPTERA DRYOPHTHORIDAE) IN ITALY
Thirty-five bacterial strains were selected on the basis of colony morphology from larvae and pupae of Rhynchophorous (Olivier) ferrugineus collected from infested Phoenix canariensis Chabaud trees growing in different Italian locations. 16S rDNA sequencing showed that bacteria isolated from larvae were mostly Gram positive and belonged to Bacillus ...

Fat body (FB) acts as a major metabolic center important for the regulation of a variety of physiological processes such as embryogenesis, reproduction, flight, overwintering, protection, and communication. Lipid amounts and fatty acid (FA) composition vary with species, stage of life, and their diet.

Protein import into bacterial endosymbionts and evolving organelles
The acquisition of bacterial endosymbionts by ancient host cells followed by massive adaptation of the partners gave rise to mitochondria and plastids. Today, various systems with younger and less integrated endosymbionts provide insights into the initial steps in the endosymbiont to organelle transition.

RNAi-mediated gene silencing in Rhynchophorus ferrugineus (Oliver) (Coleoptera: Curculionidae)
RNA interference (RNAi) is a powerful strategy for gene function analysis, and it is also widely studied in view of a promising use in pest control. The red palm weevil, Rhynchophorus ferrugineus (Oliver) (Coleoptera: Curculionidae), is one of the most ...

Microbial and insect oils: A sustainable approach to functional lipid
Abstract The increasing global population, coupled with the effects of climate change on agricultural activities has spurred a demand for sustainable food production to meet human needs. In response to this, there has been a growing interest in sustainable food production initiatives. One of such initiatives is harnessing microbial and insect lipids as
