COMUNIDADES FUNGICAS ASOCIADAS A RAMAS Y RITIDOMA TRONCAL DE GEOFFROEA DECORTICANS (Gill. ex Hook. et Arn.) Burkart (FABACEAE) FUNGAL COMMUNITIES ASSOCIATED WITH TWIGS AND TRUNK RHYTIDOME FROM GEOFFROEA DECORTICANS (Gill. ex Hook. et Arn.) Burkart (FABACEAE

open access: yesGayana: Botanica, 2001

Anatomical features of the bark as a factor of resistance of fir species to infestation by the four-eyed fir bark beetle [PDF]

open access: yesСибирский лесной журнал, 2023
To elucidate the reasons for the differences Fir species (Abies. Mill.) damage by four-eyed fir bark beetle (Polygraphus proximus Blandford), we studied the structure of fir bark in sections Balsamea, Momi, Abies, Grandis from the collections of the ...

The development and characteristics of periderm and rhytidome in Eucalyptus marginata [PDF]

open access: yesAustralian Journal of Botany, 2009
To understand the pathway used by Phytophthora cinnamomi Rands to penetrate the bark of jarrah, the present study describes unwounded periderm and rhytidome development. Periderm formation is described from its initiation in 4-week-old seedlings to the formation of rhytidome in saplings. Periderm in young seedlings consists of a single type of phellem,

Seeing clearly – Plant anatomy through Katherine Esau's microscopy lens

open access: yesJournal of Microscopy, Volume 291, Issue 1, Page 92-104, July 2023., 2023
Abstract Describing, naming and understanding the tissues and cell types composing biological organisms underpin myriad research endeavours in the biosciences. This is obvious when the organismal structure is a direct subject of the investigation such as in analyses of structure–function relationships. However, it also applies when structure represents

Xylotrechus arvicola (Coleoptera: Cerambycidae) capture in vineyards in relation to climatic factors

open access: yesPest Management Science, Volume 78, Issue 7, Page 3030-3038, July 2022., 2022
This study demonstrated that capture periods of Xylotrechus arvicola in vineyards spanned from 1 June and 31 July, with the period from 1 to 30 June having the greatest number of insect captures, as long as weather conditions were favourable (temperature above 20.00 °C and accumulated rainfall in 10 days lower than 0.40 mm).

First accurate profiling of antioxidant anthocyanins and flavonols of Tibouchina urvilleana and Tibouchina mollis edible flowers aided by fractionation with Amberlite XAD‐7

open access: yesInternational Journal of Food Science &Technology, Volume 57, Issue 4, Page 2416-2423, April 2022., 2022
Purification, fractionation, and chemical characterization of Tibouchina. Summary A purification and fractionation process of the edible flowers of Tibouchina mollis and Tibouchina urvilleana followed by the first attempt to the anthocyanin and flavonol characterisation and identification by UHPLC‐DAD‐ESI‐MS were developed. The Influence of Ecological Factors on the Phytochemical Characteristics of Pinus cembra L.

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2023
Pinus cembra L., also known as Swiss pine, is one of the lesser studied coniferous species, despite literature pointing out its great potential to be used for medical purposes due to its high contents in active phytochemicals. The aim of this study is to

Quantifying carbon in tree bark: The importance of bark morphology and tree size

open access: yesMethods in Ecology and Evolution, Volume 12, Issue 4, Page 646-654, April 2021., 2021
Abstract Bark contributes approximately 20% to the total above‐ground biomass of trees, yet bark is not properly accounted for when estimating carbon sequestered by trees. Current allometric functions estimate tree volume from diameter measured over the bark, and derive bark density and carbon content from estimates for wood.
