Photoallergic Skin Reaction To Ribavirin
American Journal of Gastroenterology, 1999A 65-yr-old woman with chronic hepatitis C was treated with three million units interferon-alpha t.i.w. and 1000 mg ribavirin daily. At wk 16 of combination therapy the patient developed an itchy eczematous erythema, partly of urticarial character, which was almost confined to ultraviolet (UV)-exposed sites.

Marked elevation of erythrocyte ribavirin levels in interferon and ribavirin-induced anemia
Clinical Gastroenterology and Hepatology, 2004To elucidate the effects of blood ribavirin disposition on ribavirin-induced anemia, the relationship between erythrocyte ribavirin concentration and change in hematologic parameters was examined in interferon and ribavirin combination therapy for HCV eradication.Nine HCV RNA-positive patients were treated with combination therapy including 11.3 +/- 1 ...

Ribavirin Aerosol Treatment of Influenza
Infectious Disease Clinics of North America, 1987In this article we have described the clinical and laboratory features of uncomplicated influenza in college students and its treatment with ribavirin aerosol. The disease presents as an acute febrile systemic illness of short duration that varies little from patient to patient. Peripheral blood cell changes in the infection are also quite specific and

Metabolism and antiviral activity of ribavirin
Virus Research, 2005Thirty years after its synthesis, the mechanism of action of ribavirin is still not completely understood. Although much is known about the metabolism and biochemical effects of ribavirin in human cells, there is still much to be learned about the precise mechanism of action of ribavirin with the various viruses.
