The anti-fecundity effect of 5-azacytidine (5-AzaC) on Schistosoma mansoni is linked to dis-regulated transcription, translation and stem cell activities

open access: yesInternational Journal for Parasitology: Drugs and Drug Resistance, 2018
Uncontrolled host immunological reactions directed against tissue-trapped eggs precipitate a potentially lethal, pathological cascade responsible for schistosomiasis.

Diversity, Function and Activity of DNA Viruses in the Qiangyong Proglacial Lake Sediment, the Tibetan Plateau

open access: yesEnvironmental Microbiology Reports, Volume 18, Issue 1, February 2026.
This study identified DNA viruses from Qiangyong proglacial lake sediments on the Tibetan Plateau, revealing a highly diverse and previously uncharacterized viral community. These viruses influence microbial community structure and function by infecting key nutrient‐transforming taxa and encoding auxiliary metabolic genes that modulate host metabolism.

Biocatalytic Construction of a Chemical Exchange Saturation Transfer Magnetic Resonance Imaging Nucleoside Probe: Synthesis and Evaluation of 5‐Methyl‐5,6‐Dihydrothymidine

open access: yesAdvanced Synthesis &Catalysis, Volume 368, Issue 1, January 2026.
Al‐Hilfi et al. present a biocatalytic strategy for synthesizing 5‐methyl‐5,6‐dihydrothymidine (5‐MDHT), a sensitive MRI contrast agent. The study demonstrates that recombinant enzyme catalysis offers an efficient, sustainable, and eco‐friendly alternative to traditional chemical synthesis for producing clinically relevant imaging probes.

AICAR-Induced Activation of AMPK Inhibits TSH/SREBP-2/HMGCR Pathway in Liver. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2015
Our previous study found that thyroid-stimulating hormone promoted sterol regulatory element-binding protein-2 (SREBP-2) expression and suppressed AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) activity in the liver, but it was unclear whether there was a direct ...

Proximity‐Induced Ligation of Noncomplementary Oligonucleotides Triggered by Charge‐Transfer Interactions

open access: yesChemistryEurope, Volume 4, Issue 1, January 2026.
Charge‐transfer assisted ligation (CTAL) enables ultrafast CuAAC and SPAAC conjugation of a tetra‐DiAlkoxyNaphthalene (DAN4)‐azide and a noncomplementary tetraNaphthaleneDiImide (NDI4)‐alkyne oligonucleotide under dilute conditions, and the reaction can be carried out tracelessly by subsequently removing the tags.

Protocol for detecting RBM33-binding sites in HEK293T cells using PAR-CLIP-seq

open access: yesSTAR Protocols
Summary: RNA-binding proteins (RBPs) regulate gene expression both co-transcriptionally and post-transcriptionally. Here, we provide a protocol for photoactivatable ribonucleoside-enhanced crosslinking and immunoprecipitation followed by next-generation ...

Biochemical and Comparative Proteomic Analyses Delineate the Anti‐Ovarian Carcinogenic Roles of Modified Calycosin

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 1, January 2026.
The modified calycosin derivative H10 was more effective in inhibiting cell proliferation through G0/G1 cell cycle arrest, together with inhibiting the migration and colony formation abilities of ovarian cancer cell lines SKOV3 and A2780. Comparative proteomic analysis coupled with Ingenuity Pathway Analysis further delineated calycosin derivative H10 ...

Rice Bran Supplements the Nutritional Density of Ready‐to‐Use Therapeutic Foods: A Targeted Nutrient and Non‐Targeted Metabolomic Analysis

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 1, January 2026.
Incorporating rice bran in ready‐to‐use therapeutic foods (RUTFs) was used for treatment of childhood malnutrition. RUTF nutrient analysis showed increased dietary fiber and vitamins E and B1. Non‐targeted metabolomics revealed significant changes in lipids, amino acids, carbohydrates, vitamins, and phytochemicals corresponding to rice bran.

Yerba Mate (Ilex paraguariensis A. St.‐Hil.) Reduces Oxidative Stress and Bone Resorption in Apical Periodontitis

open access: yesInternational Endodontic Journal, Volume 59, Issue 1, Page 91-104, January 2026.
ABSTRACT Aim Apical periodontitis (AP) is a highly prevalent chronic inflammatory disease that can exert systemic effects by releasing biochemical mediators that initiate and regulate the immune response. Yerba Mate (Ilex paraguariensis, YM), a popular plant broadly consumed in South America, is rich in biologically active compounds known for their ...
