A stochastic model of the production of multiple proteins in cells [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2014
The production processes of proteins in prokaryotic cells are investigated. Most of the mathematical models in the literature study the production of {\em one} fixed type of proteins. When several classes of proteins are considered, an important additional aspect has to be taken into account, the limited common resources of the cell (polymerases and ...

Screening and Identification of Novel DNA Aptamer for Targeted Delivery to Injured Podocytes in Glomerular Diseases

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study develops RLS‐2, a high‐affinity aptamer that specifically targets injured podocytes, making it a promising candidate for targeted drug delivery. In vitro, RLS‐2 shows stability, specificity, efficient siRNA delivery via AsiCs, and uptake by podocytes.

On the Structure of the Initiation and Elongation Rates that Maximize Protein Production in the Ribosome Flow Model [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2014
Translation is a crucial step in gene expression. During translation, macromolecules called ribosomes "read" the mRNA strand in a sequential manner and produce a corresponding protein. Translation is known to consume most of the cell's energy. Maximizing the protein production rate in mRNA translation, subject to the bounded biomolecullar budget, is ...

MEA‐seqX: High‐Resolution Profiling of Large‐Scale Electrophysiological and Transcriptional Network Dynamics

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
How can we fully understand brain function and disease without uncovering the causal coordination between molecular and neural activity across space and time? MEA‐seqX tackles this challenge by integrating advanced electrophysiology, spatial transcriptomics, and artificial intelligence predictions, revealing multiscale dynamics.

Nascent chains derived from a foldable protein sequence interact with specific ribosomal surface sites near the exit tunnel

open access: yesScientific Reports
In order to become bioactive, proteins must be translated and protected from aggregation during biosynthesis. The ribosome and molecular chaperones play a key role in this process. Ribosome-bound nascent chains (RNCs) of intrinsically disordered proteins

Three stages of nascent protein translocation through the ribosome exit tunnel [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
All proteins in living organisms are produced in ribosomes that facilitate the translation of genetic information into a sequence of amino acid residues. During translation, the ribosome undergoes initiation, elongation, termination, and recycling. In fact, peptide bonds are formed only during the elongation phase, which comprises periodic association ...

Tumoroid Model Reveals Synergistic Impairment of Metabolism by Iron Chelators and Temozolomide in Chemo‐Resistant Patient‐derived Glioblastoma Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study investigates the metabolic vulnerabilities of glioblastoma (GBM), an aggressive brain tumor. Research demonstrates that iron chelation therapy, in combination with standard chemotherapy, significantly enhances the efficacy of treatment against resistant GBM cells in a 3D tumoroid model.

Molecular Simulations of the Ribosome and Associated Translation Factors [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2017
The ribosome is a macromolecular complex which is responsible for protein synthesis in all living cells according to their transcribed genetic information. Using X-ray crystallography and, more recently, cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM), the structure of the ribosome was resolved at atomic resolution in many functional and conformational states ...

Histone Lactylation Antagonizes Senescence and Skeletal Muscle Aging by Modulating Aging‐Related Pathways

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study reveals histone lactylation as a metabolic‐epigenetic regulator countering cellular senescence and skeletal muscle aging. Reduced lactylation impairs cell cycle, DNA repair and proteostasis pathways, while exercise restores glycolytic activity and lactylation levels, preserving muscle function.

Comprehensive analysis of the circular RNA expression profile and circRNA–miRNA–mRNA network in the goat skin with divergent wool curvature

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView., 2023
In our study, we conducted circRNA expression profiling of Zhongwei goat skin exhibiting divergent curvature wool phenotypes at two developmental stages using the RNA‐seq. Functional verification assay demonstrated that circRNA8782 regulated fibroblast proliferation.
