The hydrogen peroxide-sensitive proteome of the chloroplast in vitro and in vivo

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2013
Hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) evolves during cellular metabolism and accumulates under various stresses causing serious redox imbalances. Many proteomics studies aiming to identify proteins sensitive to H2O2 used concentrations that were above the ...

Metabarcoding of Pollen Carried by Syrphids Reveals Novel Plant–Pollinator Interactions in a Protected Natural Area and Agricultural Sites

open access: yesEntomologia Experimentalis et Applicata, EarlyView.
Using DNA metabarcoding, this study investigates pollen transported by syrphids (Syrphidae) in the Dolomiti Bellunesi National Park and agricultural sites in Northern Italy. The analysis reveals a high diversity of visited plant taxa, including previously undocumented plant–pollinator interactions.

Purification and Degradation of Ribulose Bisphosphate Carboxylase from Soybean Leaves [PDF]

open access: yesPlant Physiology, 1986
A rapid method is described for the preparation of up to 500 milligrams of pure ribulose-1,5-bisphosphate carboxylase/oxygenase (RuBP carboxylase) from 250 grams of field-grown soybean leaves. Leaves were extracted in 20 millimolar phosphate (pH 6.9) at 4 degrees C, containing 4% (w/v) polyvinylpolypyrrolidone, 10 micromolar leupeptin, 1 millimolar ...

Synechocystis PCC 6803 overexpressing RuBisCO grow faster with increased photosynthesis

open access: yesMetabolic Engineering Communications, 2017
The ribulose-1,5-bisphosphate (RuBP) oxygenation reaction catalyzed by Ribulose-1,5-bisphosphate carboxylase/oxygenase (RuBisCO) is competing with carboxylation, being negative for both energy and carbon balances in photoautotrophic organisms. This makes

OsCPN10a, cooperating with OsCPN20 and OsHSP60‐3B negatively regulate ABA signaling and enhance seed storability in rice

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Plant Biology, EarlyView.
Abscisic acid signaling homeostasis is essential for seed storability. The molecular chaperone OsCPN10a enhances rice seed storability by forming a trimeric chaperone complex with OsCPN20‐OsHSP60‐3B that attenuates abscisic acid signaling via direct interaction with OsPYL10‐OsABIL1, thereby maintaining starch integrity and offering a promising target ...

Uncovering the role of the PPR protein PHOTOSYSTEM ONE BIOGENESIS FACTOR6 in splicing chloroplast group II introns

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Plant Biology, EarlyView.
The P‐class pentatricopeptide repeat (PPR) protein PHOTOSYSTEM ONE BIOGENESIS FACTOR (PBF6) forms splicing complexes with other known splicing factors to facilitate chloroplast intron splicing. PBF6 cooperates with other PPR splicing factors to promote the splicing of the same intron through forming respective splicing complexes.

Light Activation of Ribulose Bisphosphate Carboxylase

open access: yesPlant Physiology, 1978
The development of methods of preparation of long wavelength ultraviolet light capable of activating ribulose bisphosphate carboxylase is reported. This preparation was obtained from tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum) leaves which had reached about one-half maximum leaf weight.

Photorespiration-Induced Reduction of Ribulose Bisphosphate Carboxylase Activation Level [PDF]

open access: yesPlant Physiology, 1985
Leaf photosynthesis and ribulose bisphosphate carboxylase activation level were inhibited in several mutants of the C(3) crucifer Arabidopsis thaliana which possess lesions in the photorespiratory pathway. This inhibition occurred when leaves were illuminated under a photorespiratory atmosphere (50% O(2), 350 microliters per liter CO(2), balance N(2)),

Polyphenol oxidase depletion in Nicotiana benthamiana enhances recombinant protein purification and preserves native protein integrity

open access: yesNew Phytologist, EarlyView.
Polyphenol oxidases (PPOs) depletion preserves endogenous proteins at their predicted molecular weights and enhances detectable enzymatic activities. (a) Less RbcL crosslinking in ppo mutant of Nicotiana benthamiana. Leaf extracts were incubated for 1 h, separated on protein gels, stained with Coomassie or analyzed by Western blot with the anti‐RbcL ...

Structure of the Calvin-Benson-Bassham sedoheptulose-1,7-bisphosphatase from the model microalga Chlamydomonas reinhardtii

open access: yeseLife
The Calvin-Benson-Bassham cycle (CBBC) performs carbon fixation in photosynthetic organisms. Among the eleven enzymes that participate in the pathway, sedoheptulose-1,7-bisphosphatase (SBPase) is expressed in photo-autotrophs and catalyzes the hydrolysis
