Longitudinal, Multimodal Tracking Reveals Lasting Neurovascular Impact of Individual Microinfarcts

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Jin et al. investigate the neurovascular impact of microinfarcts, revealing transient neural suppression with minimal cell death and recovery linked to vascular remodeling. Fast‐spiking interneurons exhibit reduced excitability, whereas regular‐spiking neurons showed increased bursting activity. Disruptions in low‐gamma phase locking suggest persistent

YGL3 Encoding an IPP and DMAPP Synthase Interacts with OsPIL11 to Regulate Chloroplast Development in Rice

open access: yesRice
As the source of isoprenoid precursors, the plastidial methylerythritol phosphate (MEP) pathway plays an essential role in plant development. Here, we report a novel rice (Oryza sativa L.) mutant ygl3 (yellow-green leaf3) that exhibits yellow-green ...

Ethylene‐Activated E3 Ubiquitin Ligase MdEAEL1 Promotes Apple Fruit Softening by Facilitating the Dissociation of Transcriptional Repressor Complexes

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Ethylene‐activated MdEAEL1 mediates the disassembly of the MdZFP3‐MdTPL4‐MdHDA19 transcriptional repression complex, upregulating the histone acetylation levels in the promoter regions of cell wall degradation‐related genes, consequently promoting softening during storage.

Transition Metal Slab Gliding: One Key Process for Activating Anionic Redox Reaction in P2‐Type Transition Metal Oxide Cathodes

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Transition metal (TM) slab gliding is a key process for activating anionic redox reaction in P‐type layered oxide materials. Disordered TM layer weakens interlayer interactions and facilitates TM slab gliding. The resulting O‐type layer promotes reversible TM migration, provides the necessary Na–O–□TM configuration, and activates anionic redox reaction.

Acceptance of golden rice in the Philippine 'rice bowl'

open access: yesNature Biotechnology, 2003
Few science issues in recent years have elicited such polarized public reactions as modern biotechnology and its agricultural applications. Although a new study conducted by the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and the International Service for the Acquisition of Agri-biotech Applications (Ithaca, NY, USA) indicates that Southeast Asian ...

In2Se3 Synthesized by the FWF Method for Neuromorphic Computing

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
The flash‐within‐flash method to synthesize gram‐scale pure phase α‐In2Se3 composed of two vessels: In pellets and Se powder in inner quartz tube, and metallurgical coke in outer quartz tube to introduce indirect heat transfer. The process involves high voltage flashing and results in materials used to generate neuromorphic computing devices ...

Salicylic acid reverses pollen abortion of rice caused by heat stress

open access: yesBMC Plant Biology, 2018
Background Extremely high temperatures are becoming an increasingly severe threat to crop yields. It is well documented that salicylic acid (SA) can enhance the stress tolerance of plants; however, its effect on the reproductive organs of rice plants has
