A pangenome reference of wild and cultivated rice
Oryza rufipogon, the wild progenitor of Asian cultivated rice Oryza sativa, is an important resource for rice breeding1. Here we present a wild-cultivated rice pangenome based on 145 chromosome-level assemblies, comprising 129 genetically diverse O. rufipogon accessions and 16 diverse varieties of O. sativa. This pangenome contains 3.87 Gb of sequences

Advancing European Plant Variety Registration: Data‐Driven Insights and Stakeholder Perspectives
ABSTRACT Efficient plant variety registration is crucial for fostering innovation in the European Union, yet the current regulatory framework is complex and faces calls for reform. This study provides data‐driven evidence to inform the ongoing legislative debate by employing a mixed‐methods approach.

Studies on the mechanism of the formation of yield differences in indica–japonica hybrid rice
Population characteristics serve as crucial determinants of rice yield. Investigating the population characteristics of indica–japonica hybrid rice across different yield levels can offer a solid theoretical foundation and robust scientific evidence for ...

Transforming Inundated Rice Cultivation
Almost 90% of global rice is produced under inundated conditions, i.e. in fields with a standing water layer of 5 to 15 cm during the major part of the growing season.

ABSTRACT European agriculture is increasingly exposed to economic instability driven by extreme weather events, market volatility, and geopolitical tensions. To manage these growing risks, farmers are encouraged to adopt innovative risk management strategies such as the Income Stabilization Tool (IST), which offers protection against severe income ...

Pesticide MRLs as Trade Barriers: Evidence From Vietnam's Coffee and Rice Exporters
ABSTRACT As tariffs have declined globally through bilateral and regional trade agreements, food safety standards have emerged as significant determinants of agricultural trade flows. This study examines the impact of maximum residue limits (MRLs) for five pesticides—Azoxystrobin, Chlorpyrifos, Chlorantraniliprole, Clothianidin, and Cyhalothrin—on ...

Abstract While multiple factors explain low adoption rates of improved varieties by small‐scale farmers in sub‐Saharan Africa, a key supply‐side constraint is the limited availability of seed embodying new traits in the volume, quality, price, and timeliness required by farmers. This constraint is partly attributable to classical failures in the market
