Adapting lowland rice cultivation to climate change - thermal stress tolerance breeding in the Sahel region of West Africa [PDF]
The Sahel region of West Africa is characterized by extreme diurnal and seasonal temperature variation subjecting the rice crop to thermal stress at different growth stages.

Long‐Term Elevated CO2 Improves Soil Health and Rice Yields in Paddy Fields
Combining the two longest‐running rice free‐air CO2 enrichment experiments with a global data synthesis, this study demonstrates that long‐term elevated CO2 consistently enhances soil health. In rice paddies, this improvement sustains the CO2 fertilization effect over decades.

Acute brain injuries are characterized by extensive tissue damage, resulting in debilitating deficits in patients. Despite considerable progress, cell‐based approaches have yet to identify an ideal candidate. This long‐term study explores the use of an untested cell source – human enteric glia – and a non‐invasive administration route – intranasal ...

Allelopathic Observations in Rice (Oryza sativa L.) to Ducksalad (Heteranthera limosa) [PDF]
More than 50 weed species infest drill-seeded rice in the U.S. and one of the most prevalent aquatic weeks is ducksalad (Heteranthera limosa). During the summer of 1988, a field experiment was conducted to identify rice accessions from the USDA/ARS rice ...

Structural and Functional Characterization of EXPO‐Derived Extracellular Vesicles in Plants
In this study, 3D electron tomography (ET), cryo‐ET, and immunogold transmission electron microscopy (TEM) are employed to characterize plant extracellular vesicles (EVs) under physiological conditions. EVs are classified into three distinct categories according to their size, content, and molecular‐marker profiles. Furthermore, Exo70E2‐positive medium

Fissure Characterization of Rice Kernels Using Video Microscopy [PDF]
Fissures are fractures of a rice kernel that can be created during the drying and tempering process. They cause tremendous postharvest losses in milling yield.

DNA demethylation by ROS1a in rice vegetative cells promotes methylation in sperm. [PDF]
Epigenetic reprogramming is required for proper regulation of gene expression in eukaryotic organisms. In Arabidopsis, active DNA demethylation is crucial for seed viability, pollen function, and successful reproduction. The DEMETER (DME) DNA glycosylase
