Spatiotemporally Controlled Soft Robotics with Optically Responsive Liquid Crystal Elastomers

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
The article develops a machine vision‐based and tetherless control of a soft robotic arm made from azobenzene liquid crystal elastomers (azoLCEs). A convolutional neural network predicts the light patterns needed for desired arm configurations, enabling precise, remote actuation of a homogeneous material.

Stability and Mitochondrial Localization of a Highly Cytotoxic Organogold(III) Complex with Diphosphine Ancillary Ligand in Lung Cancer Cells

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
The combination of cryo‐synchrotron radiation‐X‐ray fluorescence (cryo‐SR‐XRF), cryo‐synchrotron radiation‐X‐ray absorption (cryo‐SR‐XAS) and high‐resolution mass spectrometry demonstrates the high intracellular stability of a biphenyl gold(III) diphosphine complex indicating the native organogold cation as the active species.

“Someday, I'll be an ancestor:” Understanding indigenous intergenerational connectedness through qualitative research to inform measure development

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Community Psychology, EarlyView.
Abstract Intergenerational connectedness broadly encompasses relations among humans, lands, and all living and spiritual beings, and functions as an important part of Indigenous well‐being. Many public health campaigns and interventions aim to promote connectedness to support holistic wellness and reduce health inequities. Currently, however, there are

Epipolythiodioxopiperazine‐Based Natural Products: Building Blocks, Biosynthesis and Biological Activities

open access: yesChemBioChem, Volume 23, Issue 23, December 5, 2022., 2022
Housing sulfur: Certain fungi produce diketopiperazine compounds with a transannular sulfur bridge. These so‐called epipolythiodioxopiperzines are toxic by non‐specifically interacting with intracellular proteins and contribute to fungal pathogenicity. Producer strains serve as bio‐pesticides but also question safety of food fermentation.
