Foliar Spraying of ZnO Nanoparticles Enhanced the Yield, Quality, and Zinc Enrichment of Rice Grains

open access: yesFoods, 2023
Zinc deficiency in rice can lead to reduced nutritional value and taste. This study investigates the potential of zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO NPs) as a foliar fertilizer during the jointing stage to improve rice yield, quality, and grain zinc ...

Experimental Characterization of Mycelium‐Based Composites Under Multiple Loading Conditions

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study examines the mechanical response of mycelium‐based composites under compression, shear, and tension using mechanical testing and imaging methods. The comparison between unpressed and hot‐pressed specimens shows that hot pressing is associated with higher compression and shear stiffnesses.

Toward Tunable Magnetic Dirac Semimetals: Mn Doping of Cd3As2

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Dilute magnetic doping of topological semimetals offers a pathway to tune the topological phase via time reversal symmetry breaking. This is achieved by alloying the Dirac semimetal Cd3As2 with Mn via molecular beam epitaxy. Magnetotransport measurements provide preliminary evidence of changes to the electronic structure consistent with the emergence ...

OsAlR3 regulates aluminum tolerance through promoting the secretion of organic acids and the expression of antioxidant genes in rice

open access: yesBMC Plant Biology
In acidic soils, aluminum (Al) toxicity inhibits the growth and development of plant roots and affects nutrient and water absorption, leading to reduced yield and quality.

Low‐Fraction Irregular Inclusions Trigger Large Compression Stiffening in Biopolymer Hydrogels

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Irregular inclusions at low filler fractions trigger large compression stiffening in biopolymer hydrogels. By promoting contact‐network formation under compression, these inclusions induce non‐affine rearrangements, stretch surrounding fibers, and provide parallel load‐bearing pathways.
