Metabolism of Glycine in Roots of Wheat and Rice Seedlings

Journal of Plant Physiology, 1984
Wheat and rice roots have been shown to decarboxylate both the carbon atoms of glycine. Cold formate and serine significantly depressed (14)CO(2) evolution from (2-(14)CO) glycine. It is therefore likely that C(1)-tetrahydrofolate pool is involved in 2-C-glycine metabolism.

Proteomic identification of rhythmic proteins in rice seedlings

Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Proteins and Proteomics, 2011
Many aspects of plant metabolism that are involved in plant growth and development are influenced by light-regulated diurnal rhythms as well as endogenous clock-regulated circadian rhythms. To identify the rhythmic proteins in rice, periodically grown (12h light/12h dark cycle) seedlings were harvested for three days at six-hour intervals.

Rice seedlings release momilactone B into the environment

Phytochemistry, 2003
Since the growth inhibitor momilactone B was found recently in root exudates of rice (Oryza sativa L.), 3-day-old rice seedlings were transferred to hydroponic culture and the level of momilactone B released into the environment from the seedlings was measured.

Enantioselective Separation and Phytotoxicity on Rice Seedlings of Paclobutrazol

Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, 2011
The environmental significance of enantioselectivity in chiral insecticides and herbicides has been widely studied. However, little information is currently available on the enantioselective behavior of chiral plant growth regulators. In this study, paclobutrazol enantiomers were resolved and prepared by chiral high-performance liquid chromatography ...

Rice BIG gene is required for seedling viability

Journal of Plant Physiology, 2019
Arabidopsis BIG (AtBIG) gene encodes an enormous protein that is required for auxin transport. Loss of AtBIG function not only profoundly changes plant architecture but also alters plant adaptability to environmental stimuli. A putative homolog of AtBIG exists in the rice genome, but no function has been ascribed to it.

Effects of Graphene on Germination and Seedling Morphology in Rice

Journal of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, 2015
The effects of graphene on the germination and growth of rice seeds were studied. Seeds were treated with graphene solutions at different concentrations. Obvious delaying effects on the germination rate were observed with the increasing of graphene concentration. The growth of radicle and plumule was inhibited.

Effect of Seedling Raising Shelf Size on Seedling Growth of Rice

Journal of the Korean Society of International Agriculture, 2013
Rice seedling raising in shelf apparatus not only saves time but also reduces labor input. However. it sometimes gives weak seedling because of light shading during the seedling growth in shelf. To develop technology for healthy seedling growth in seedling raising shelf, the effect of seedling raising shelf width and Interlayer on seedling growth of ...

Effects of Different Seedling Raising Substrates on Quality of Rice Seedlings

2019
Five different seedling raising substrates were used to take the place of the nutrient soil to cultivate rice seedling mechanical transplanting in Anqing, Anhui Province. The emergence rate, survival rate, quality of aboveground parts of seedlings, root system and dry weight and fresh weight were surveyed and analyzed.
