Time to Diagnosis Among Children and Adolescents With Cancer in Québec, Canada: A Population‐Based Study

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Timely cancer diagnosis in children and adolescents is important to improving outcomes. We aimed to quantify time to diagnosis and assess variations by patient, demographic and system‐level factors. Procedure We conducted a population‐based study of individuals aged 0–19 years diagnosed with one of 12 cancers from 2010 to 2022 in ...

Organoids in pediatric cancer research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Organoid technology has revolutionized cancer research, yet its application in pediatric oncology remains limited. Recent advances have enabled the development of pediatric tumor organoids, offering new insights into disease biology, treatment response, and interactions with the tumor microenvironment.

Infinite Words Rich and Almost Rich in Generalized Palindromes [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Foundations of Computer Science, 2011
We focus on $Θ$-rich and almost $Θ$-rich words over a finite alphabet $\mathcal{A}$, where $Θ$ is an involutive antimorphism over $\mathcal{A}^*$. We show that any recurrent almost $Θ$-rich word $\uu$ is an image of a recurrent $Θ'$-rich word under a suitable morphism, where $Θ'$ is again an involutive antimorphism.

Reined-in richness

open access: yesNature Ecology & Evolution, 2019
Analysis of Phanerozoic vertebrate community richness suggests there have been constraints on tetrapod diversity dynamics over much of their evolutionary history.

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Richness orderings [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of Economic Inequality, 2013
An index of richness in a society is a measure of the extent of its affluence. This paper presents an analytical discussion on several indices of richness and their properties. It also develops criteria for ordering alternative distributions of income in terms of their richness. Given a line of richness, an income level above which a person is regarded

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

MODELLING THE POTENTIAL DISTRIBUTION AND RICHNESS OF CETACEANS IN THE AZORES FROM FISHERIES OBSERVER PROGRAM DATA

open access: yesFrontiers in Marine Science, 2016
Marine spatial planning and ecological research call for high-resolution species distribution data. However, those data are still not available for most marine large vertebrates. The dynamic nature of oceanographic processes and the wide-ranging behavior

An integrated approach for the measurement of inequality, poverty, and richness [PDF]

open access: yesPanoeconomicus, 2015
The goal of the paper is to propose a new and integrated approach to the measurement of inequality in income distribution, poverty, and richness. The proposed set of indicators is easy to calculate and is based on a neutral inequality concept ...
