Antiproliferative activity of synthetic fatty acid amides from renewable resources [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
In the work, the in vitro antiproliferative activity of a series of synthetic fatty acid amides were investigated in seven cancer cell lines. The study revealed that most of the compounds showed antiproliferative activity against tested tumor cell lines,

Characterization of particle shape, zeta potential, loading efficiency and outdoor stability for chitosan-ricinoleic acid loaded with rotenone

open access: yesOpen Life Sciences, 2016
Carboxymethyl chitosan grafted with ricinoleic acid (CMC-g-RA), an amphiphilic drug carrier, was synthetized, loaded with rotenone (Rot), and characterized for particles shape, zeta potential, loading efficiency and outdoor stability.

Lipase-mediated hydrolysis of castor oil on its biotransformation into γ-decalactone by Yarrowia lipolytica [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
γ-Decalactone is a peach-like flavour compound that can be obtained biotechnologically by the biotransformation of ricinoleic acid. Castor oil is the substrate most usually used in the biotechnological production of γ-decalactone and it needs to be ...

Oil-in-water emulsions characterization by laser granulometry and impact on γ-decalactone production in Yarrowia lipolytica [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Oil-in-water emulsions composed of methyl ricinoleate (MR) or castor oil (CO) as the organic phase, stabilized by Tween 80, are in the basis of the biotechnological production of gama-decalactone. Y.

The Incorporation of Ricinoleic Acid into Rat Lymph Lipids

open access: yesExperimental Biology and Medicine, 1969
One milliliter of ricinoleic acid, triricinolein, or methyl ricinoleate was administered by gastric intubation to thoracic duct-cannulated rats. The lymph was collected over a 48-hr period, the lipids extracted from it, and separated into the various lipid classes by a combination of ion exchange and silicic acid and thin-layer chromatography.

Immobilized Staphylococcus xylosus lipase-catalysed synthesis of ricinoleic acid esters

open access: yesJournal of Molecular Catalysis B: Enzymatic, 2012
Abstract Staphylococcus xylosus lipase 2 (SXL2) was immobilized by physical adsorption onto CaCO3. A high immobilization yield was obtained (82 ± 3.7%) corresponding to the loading of 3250 ± 150 IU/g of support. Thermal stability of the CaCO3-immobilized lipase was remarkably enhanced compared with that of the free one.
