Ricinoleic Acid Catabolism in Peroxisomes

Botanica Acta, 1991
AbstractPeroxisomes from castor bean endosperm and mung bean hypocotyl completely degrade ricinoleic acid (12‐D‐hydroxy‐9‐cis‐octadecenoic acid) to acetyl‐CoA. Concomitant NADH formation occurred with a stoichiometry of 9 nmol NADH formed per 1 nmol ricinoleate degraded.

High molar mass poly(ricinoleic acid) via entropy-driven ring-opening metathesis polymerization

Polymer Chemistry, 2021
High molar mass poly(ricinoleic acid) was synthesized via entropy-driven ring-opening metathesis polymerization of mono-, di- and mixed macrolactones of ricinoleic acid using a Grubbs second-generation catalyst and fully characterized.

Prevention of urinary infection through the incorporation of silver–ricinoleic acid–polystyrene nanoparticles on the catheter surface

Journal of Biomaterials Applications, 2021
Nosocominal infections associated with biofilm formation on urinary catheters cause serious complications. The aim of this study was to investigate the feasibility of the polyurethane (PU) catheter modified with tetracycline hydrochloride (TCH) attached ...

Synthesis of phosphatidylcholines containing ricinoleic acid

Tetrahedron, 2001
Abstract 1,2-Diricinoleoyl- and 1-ricinoleoyl-2-oleoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine were synthesised with good yields. The synthesis started with the preparation of ricinoleic acid from castor oil. The choice of a suitable agent to protect the –OH group of ricinoleic acid was a key factor to afford the final products.

Determination of ricinoleic acid by differentiating titrations

Journal of the American Oil Chemists' Society, 1965
AbstractA technique based on a method of differentiating titrations was developed for the resolution of mixtures of ricinoleic, sulfuric and ethylsulfuric acids. The total and partial acid values were determined by potentiometric titration with a glass‐calomel electrode using aqueous sodium hydroxide as titrant.

Lactic Acid and Ricinoleic Acid Based Copolyesters

Macromolecules, 2005
Copolyesters based on purified ricinoleic (RA) and lactic (LA) acids with different RA:LA ratios were synthesized by thermal polycondensation and by transesterification of high molecular weight poly(lactic acid) (PLA) with ricinoleic acid and repolyesterification.

Energies of combustion and standard molar enthalpies of formation of ricinoleic acid and methyl ricinoleate

The Journal of Chemical Thermodynamics, 2012
Abstract Standard energies of combustion of ricinoleic acid and methyl ricinoleate were measured experimentally by using a semi-micro bomb calorimeter. The energies of combustion of ricinoleic acid and methyl ricinoleate were used to derive the corresponding standard molar enthalpies of formation ( - Δ f H m ∘ ) in liquid

Stable polyanhydride synthesized from sebacic acid and ricinoleic acid

Journal of Controlled Release, 2017
Poly(anhydride) are unstable and prone to hydrolytic degradation and depolymerisation via anhydride interchange. They are stored at -20°C, packed under inert atmosphere until use. We synthesized a new poly(anhydride) from ricinoleic (RA) and sebacic (SA) acid with alternating ester-anhydride structure that is stable at 25°C for over 18months.
