Hydroboration-oxidation of ricinoleic acid derivatives
Russian Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2008The regioselectivity in the hydroboration-oxidation of ricinoleic acid derivatives only slightly depends on the configuration of the optically active center: the fraction of the resulting 1,3-diol is larger by 6–10% than that of the 1,4-isomer.

Ricinoleic acid inLinum mucronatum seed oil
Lipids, 1971AbstractLinum mucronatum seed oil contains 15% ricinoleic [(+)‐12‐D‐hydroxy‐cis‐9‐octadecenoic] acid, previously unknown in the Linaceae. Identification was made by IR, gas liquid chromatography, nuclear magnetic resonance, ozonolysis and mass spectrometry. Other major components of the oil are oleic acid (24%) and linoleic acid (48%).

Ricinoleic Acid in Common Vegetable Oils and Oil Seeds
Lipids, 2008AbstractAn original gas chromatography/mass spectrometry method for quantifying trace amounts of ricinoleic acid (12‐hydroxy‐cis‐9‐octadecenoic acid) is detailed. Data are presented on trace amounts of ricinoleic acid found in several common vegetable oils and oils extracted from common oil seeds: e.g., ca. 30 ppm in commercial olive oil was the lowest

Cytotoxic and genotoxic effects of (R)- and (S)-ricinoleic acid derivatives.
Chirality, 2020(R)-ricinoleic acid is the main component of castor oil from Ricinus communis L. Due to the presence of the hydroxyl group in homoallylic position and asymmetrically substituted carbon atom, it may undergo a number of chemical and biochemical ...

A convenient synthesis of carboxyl‐labelled ricinoleic acid
Journal of Labelled Compounds and Radiopharmaceuticals, 1979AbstractThe exchange reaction of carboxyl groups with labelled carbon dioxide has been utilized for the preparation of carboxyl labelled ricinoleic acid. The thermal instability of ricinoleic acid is overcome by pyrolysis of the t‐butyl ether‐t‐butyl ester in the presence of labelled carbonate.

Biocatalytic production of ricinoleic acid from castor oil: augmentation by ionic liquid
Chemical Engineering Communications, 2020In present study involving castor oil hydrolysis catalyzed by porcine pancreas lipase, organic solvent, and ionic liquid were applied to augment production of ricinoleic acid. Toluene was the best organic solvent (30.18% hydrolysis in 2 h).

Lactic and Ricinoleic Acid Based Copolyesters Stereocomplexation
Macromolecules, 2005A systematic study of the synthesis and stereocomplexation of l-lactic acid and ricinoleic acid based copolyesters is reported. l-lactic acid and ricinoleic acid based copolyesters were synthesized by melt condensation and transesterification of high-molecular-weight poly(lactic acid) (PLA) with ricinoleic acid and repolymerization by condensation to ...

QSAR studies of antibacterial ricinoleic acid derivatives
Pharmaceutical Chemistry Journal, 2007A series of ricinoleic acid derivatives has been synthesized and tested for antibacterial activity with respect to four standard strains. Dibromoricinoleic acid (DBRA) showed high activity comparable with that of the reference drug ciprofloxacin. QSARs between various physicochemical indices and the antibacterial activity of a training set including 12

Hydrolytic Degradation and Drug Release of Ricinoleic Acid–Lactic Acid Copolyesters
Pharmaceutical Research, 2006A systematic study on the degradation and drug release from L-lactic acid and ricinoleic-acid-based copolyesters is reported. These copolyesters were synthesized by ring opening polymerization (ROP), melt condensation (COND) and transesterification (TRANS) of high molecular weight poly(lactic acid) (PLA) with ricinoleic acid (PLA-RA), and ...
