Detection and Genetic Diversity of Heritable Bacterial Symbionts in Human Lice Based on 16S‐rRNA Gene

open access: yesEnvironmental Microbiology Reports, Volume 18, Issue 1, February 2026.
Candidatus Riesia pediculicola and Wolbachia were found in 79.6% and 95.2% of head lice, and 81.8% and 100% of body lice. Candidatus Riesia pthiripubis and Wolbachia appeared in 41.7% and 75% of pubic lice. Maximum‐likelihood 16S‐rRNA phylogeny revealed substantial heterogeneity within symbiont populations. ABSTRACT Human lice are obligate bloodsucking

First detection and molecular identification of Rickettsia massiliae, a human pathogen, in Rhipicephalus sanguineus ticks collected from Southern Taiwan.

open access: yesPLoS Neglected Tropical Diseases, 2022
The Rickettsia massiliae was firstly detected and identified in Rhipicephalus sanguineus ticks infested on dogs in Taiwan. A total of 1154 Rh. sanguineus ticks collected from 158 dogs of four districts of Tainan city were examined for Rickettsia ...

Rickettsia raoultii and Rickettsia sibirica in ticks from the long-tailed ground squirrel near the China–Kazakhstan border

open access: yesExperimental & applied acarology, 2019
Spotted fever group (SFG) rickettsiae cause infection in humans, domestic animals and wildlife. To date, no rickettsial agents have been reported in hard ticks from the long-tailed ground squirrel (Spermophilus undulatus).

Molecular Screening of Black Flies (Diptera: Simuliidae) for Vector‐Borne Zoonotic Pathogens, South Moravia, Czech Republic

open access: yesZoonoses and Public Health, Volume 73, Issue 1, Page 95-106, February 2026.
ABSTRACT Introduction Black flies (Simuliidae) are globally distributed blood‐feeding arthropods and vectors of viral, bacterial, and parasitic pathogens to many animal species, including humans. We investigated the occurrence of selected vector‐borne pathogens in black flies in South Moravia, Czech Republic, and evaluated their possible role in the ...

Amblyomma imitator Ticks as Vectors of Rickettsia rickettsii, Mexico

open access: yesEmerging Infectious Diseases, 2010
Real-time PCR of Amblyomma imitator tick egg masses obtained in Nuevo Leon State, Mexico, identified a Rickettsia species. Sequence analyses of 17-kD common antigen and outer membrane protein A and B gene fragments showed to it to be R. rickettsii, which

Time series model based on global structure of complete genome [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
A time series model based on the global structure of the complete genome is proposed. Three kinds of length sequences of the complete genome are considered. The correlation dimensions and Hurst exponents of the length sequences are calculated.

Myelodysplastic/Myeloproliferative Neoplasm in a Dog: A Case Report

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 12, Issue 1, January 2026.
This is a bone marrow aspirate smear image from an 18‐year‐old mixed‐breed dog diagnosed with myelodysplastic/myeloproliferative neoplasm. Both peripheral blood and bone marrow examinations revealed marked myeloid hyperplasia and dysplastic changes. ABSTRACT Myelodysplastic syndrome/myeloproliferative neoplasm (MDS/MPN) is a clonal myeloid disorder ...

Changes in Aphid Host Plant Diet Influence the Small-RNA Expression Profiles of Its Obligate Nutritional Symbiont, Buchnera. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Plants are a difficult food resource to use, and herbivorous insects have evolved a variety of mechanisms that allow them to fully exploit this poor nutritional resource. One such mechanism is the maintenance of bacterial symbionts that aid in host plant
