Rickettsial keratitis in a Case of Mediterranean spotted fever

open access: yes, 1992
The first documented case of infectious keratitis (an ameboid-like corneal ulcer) caused by Rickettsia conorii is described. Corneal infection was probably caused by contamination through the tears during systemic rickettsial dissemination.

Infection by Rickettsia felis in Ctenocephalides felis felis Fleas from North of Colombia

open access: yesJournal of Arthropod-Borne Diseases, 2019
Background: Rickettsia felis is an emergent Rickettsial agent whose main vector is Ctenocephalides felis, but ticks, mites and lice are also infected. We aimed to search for molecular evidence of Rickettsia spp.

Biology, ecology, and conservation of the Italian hare Lepus corsicanus: a review

open access: yesWildlife Biology, EarlyView.
The Italian hare Lepus corsicanus, an endemic lagomorph of Italy, serves as a critical case study in evolutionary biology and conservation. Once taxonomically debated, modern genetic and morphological analyses confirm its status as a distinct Pleistocene lineage restricted to the central‐southern Italian Peninsula and Sicily.

Rickettsiales and rickettsial diseases in Australia [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Currently, there are 12 known Rickettsiales species in Australia. However research into the diversity and range of these agents in Australia is still far from complete.

Underdiagnoses of Rickettsia in patients hospitalized with acute fever in Indonesia: observational study results

open access: yesBMC Infectious Diseases, 2020
Background Reports of human rickettsial infection in Indonesia are limited. This study sought to characterize the epidemiology of human rickettsioses amongst patients hospitalized with fever at 8 tertiary hospitals in Indonesia.

Exploring the potential of using male‐killing endosymbionts to induce female‐biased insect populations for enhanced biomass production

open access: yesInsect Science, EarlyView.
Overview of the mindset and long‐term goals with the approach suggested in this study. We provide a first proof of concept that male‐killing endosymbionts can be used to establish female biased populations with higher production efficiency than populations with a 50/50 sex ratio. This biological tool can have marked positive impact on future commercial
