Rickettsial Infections Causing Acute Febrile Illness in Urban Slums, Brazil
We conducted enhanced acute febrile illness surveillance in an urban slum community in Salvador, Brazil. We found that rickettsial infection accounted for 3.5% of urgent care visits for acute fever.

This diagram illustrates that the horizontally transferred panBC influences the level and localization of vitellogenin (Vg) by facilitating pantothenate production and juvenile hormone (JH) biosynthesis. In turn, Vg shields symbionts by suppressing autophagic degradation in bacteriocytes.

Severe bilateral retinal vasculitis as a delayed manifestation of rickettsial infection
Ophthalmic manifestations of rickettsial infections are reported as mostly asymptomatic and self-limiting. A 27-year-old woman, 29 weeks pregnant, recently treated for rickettsial infection, presented ten days following discharge with visual blurring ...

A bacterial‐derived AvPBL gene encoding a pantothenate‐β‐alanine ligase was identified in Amphitetranychus viennensis. RNAi silencing of AvPBL reduced pantothenic acid production, impairing reproduction and diapause induction, while pantothenic acid supplementation rescued these phenotypes.

An epidemiological and serological study of Rickettsia in Western Australia [PDF]
The study was aimed at investigating Western Australian rickettsiae, delving deeper into the epidemiology of a recently described rickettsia, Rickettsia gravesii, and any other rickettsiae lurking in the Western Australian bush. Prior to the discovery of

Autophagy and Inflammation During Rickettsial Infection [PDF]
Rickettsiae are obligately intracellular bacteria that replicate in the cytoplasm of host cells. In my dissertation, I have studied the induction of autophagy by rickettsiae as well as the role of autophagy in the pathogenesis of rickettsioses in vitro ...

Putting Rodents at the Center of One Health Programs: A Narrative Synthesis
Rodents link human, animal, and environmental health across diverse ecosystems. Rodent diversity underpins both zoonotic disease risk and ecosystem function. Environmental change reshapes rodent communities and spillover dynamics. Rodents act as reservoirs, amplifiers, and sentinels of emerging pathogens.
