Croatia has a range of rickettsial diseases that include typhus group rickettsiae (Rickettsia typhi), spotted fever group rickettsiae (R. conorii, R.akari), and Q fever (C. burnetii). Although no cases of epidemic typhus has been reported recently in Croatia, we should be aware of the possibility of reemergence of this disease.
