Vertical profiles of wind speed over a mountain ridge
Measurements of vertical profiles of wind speed on the ridge of the Erz Mountains (Erzgebirge) were performed during the year 2000 with a Doppler sodar located near the village Dlouha´ Louka. The ridge is highly asymmetrical looking as a large escarpment.

Estimating Zooplankton Biomass Distribution in the Water Column Near the Endeavour Segment of Juan de Fuca Ridge Using Acoustic Backscatter and Concurrently Towed Nets [PDF]
Logistical challenges, time, and the cost of towed net surveys make it difficult to obtain estimates of secondary biomass and production in the open ocean outside the summer sampling season. Alternate approaches are sometimes needed.

Control of the symmetry of plume-ridge interaction by spreading ridge geometry
The Iceland, Gal´apagos and Azores plumes have previously been identified as interacting asymmetrically with adjacent spreading centres. We present evidence that the flow fields in these plume heads are radially symmetric, but the geometry of the mid ...

The Prediction, Verification, and Significance of Flank Jets at Mid-Ocean Ridges [PDF]
One aspect of ocean flow over mid-ocean ridges that has escaped much attention is the capacity of a ridge to convert oscillatory flows into unidirectional flows.
