Null projections and noncommutative function theory in operator algebras

open access: yesJournal of the London Mathematical Society, Volume 114, Issue 1, July 2026.
Abstract We study projections in the bidual of a C∗$\mathrm{C}^*$‐algebra B$B$ that are null with respect to a subalgebra A$A$, that is, projections p∈B∗∗$p\in B^{**}$ satisfying |φ|(p)=0$|\varphi |(p)=0$ for every φ∈B∗$\varphi \in B^*$ annihilating A$A$. In the separable case, A$A$‐null projections are precisely the peak projections in the bidual of A$

A general theory of inverse welfare functions

open access: yesTheoretical Economics, Volume 21, Issue 3, Page 973-1018, July 2026.
This paper develops a general theory to recover the inverse welfare function that rationalizes a given tax schedule as optimal. Our theory allows for complex environments including the presence of multidimensional tax schedules, bunching/jumping behavior, optimization frictions, general equilibrium effects, and externalities.

On the Space of Interval-Valued Riesz Convergent Sequences and Its Applications to Fundamental Properties

open access: yesMathematics
This study aims to define the space of interval-valued Riesz convergent sequences and to provide a detailed analysis of its structural properties. The classical concept of Riesz convergence is generalized to sequences whose terms consist of closed and ...

Advanced control of non‐isothermal axial dispersion tubular reactors with recycle‐induced state delay

open access: yesThe Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, Volume 104, Issue 6, Page 3018-3037, June 2026.
Abstract We develop a delay‐aware estimation and control framework for a non‐isothermal axial dispersion tubular reactor modelled as a coupled parabolic‐hyperbolic PDE system with recycle‐induced state delay. The infinite‐dimensional dynamics are preserved without spatial discretization by representing the delay as a transport PDE and adopting a late ...

Burkholder Inequalities in Riesz spaces

open access: yesIndagationes Mathematicae, 2017
The classical Burkholder inequality on the real line \(\mathbb{R}\) shows that, for \(p>1\), the \(L_p\)-norm of a martingale is comparable to the \(L_p\)-norm of its square function. The present article offers a version of the Burkholder inequality for martingales defined on a Dedekind complete Riesz space.

Long‐Time Solvability and Asymptotics for the 3D Rotating MHD Equations

open access: yesMathematische Nachrichten, Volume 299, Issue 6, Page 1480-1509, June 2026.
ABSTRACT We consider the initial value problem for the 3D incompressible rotating MHD equations around a constant magnetic field. We prove the long‐time existence and uniqueness of solutions for small viscosity coefficient and high rotating speed. Moreover, we investigate the asymptotic behavior of solutions in the limit of vanishing viscosity and fast

Riesz’s Theorem for Lumer’s Hardy Spaces [PDF]

open access: yesThe American Mathematical Monthly, 2020
In this note we obtain a version of the well-known Riesz's theorem on conjugate harmonic functions for Lumer's Hardy spaces $(Lh)^2(Ω)$ on arbitrary domains $Ω$: If a real-valued harmonic function $U\in (Lh)^2(Ω)$ has a harmonic conjugate $V$ on $Ω$ (i.e., a real-valued harmonic function such that $U+ iV$ is analytic on $Ω$), then $U+iV$ also belongs ...

Building a Digital Twin for Material Testing: Model Reduction and Data Assimilation

open access: yesProceedings in Applied Mathematics and Mechanics, Volume 26, Issue 2, June 2026.
ABSTRACT The rapid advancement of industrial technologies, data collection, and handling methods has paved the way for the widespread adoption of digital twins (DTs) in engineering, enabling seamless integration between physical systems and their virtual counterparts.

A note on Riesz space valued measures

open access: yes, 2016
In this paper, some properties of Riesz space valued measures that are defined on an algebra of sets are obtained. The question of under what conditions oba(F, E) a(F, E) for a given Dedekind complete Riesz space E is answered under natural conditions ...
