Rietveld structure refinement of microcline

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Mineralogy, 2015
Compared with single-crystal X-ray diffraction, extracting structural data from X-ray powder diffraction (XRPD) seems meaningless for minerals with an available single crystal, such as alkali feldspar. However, alkali feldspar is highly abundant on Earth, and the feldspar structure is important in geology.

Polymorphic Superparaelectric Engineering Boosting Energy Storage Capacity in BaTiO3‐Based Ceramics

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Herein, Ca2+ incorporation promotes the coexistence of CaTiO3‐/BaTiO3‐derived paraferroelectric states, stabilizing cubic‐orthorhombic‐tetragonal polymorphic superparaelectric phases. This minimizes polarization energy barriers, facilitating full polarization saturation without compromising efficiency.

Sustainable Materials Design With Multi‐Modal Artificial Intelligence

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Critical mineral scarcity, high embodied carbon, and persistent pollution from materials processing intensify the need for sustainable materials design. This review frames the problem as multi‐objective optimization under heterogeneous, high‐dimensional evidence and highlights multi‐modal AI as an enabling pathway.

Structural and Compositional Effects on the Scintillation Properties of Fast Emitting Metal‐Organic Frameworks

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The crystalline structure, the atomic numbers of the constituent elementsand the size of MOF crystals each influence their photoluminescence and scintillation properties in distinct ways. Together, these factors provide valuable guidelines for designing systems with optimized performance and tunable timing characteristics, arising from the synergistic ...

Development of Branched ZnO Microrods: A Comprehensive Structural and Optical Characterization [PDF]

open access: yesIranian Journal of Materials Science and Engineering
In this study, a novel three-step method for the synthesis of ZnO and branched ZnO microrods was developed. Numerous techniques were used to analyze the obtained samples: photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy, raman spectroscopy, fourier transform infrared

Kinetics of Thermal Transformation of Synthetic Al-Maghemites into Al-Hematites

open access: yesRevista Brasileira de Ciência do Solo
Maghemite (γ-Fe2O3) and hematite (α-Fe2O3) are important iron oxides in Brazilian soils derived from basalt. Maghemite can transform into hematite when exposed to high temperatures. However, isomorphic substitution (e.g., Al3+) may largely influence this

Rietveld refinement using Debye-Scherrer film techniques

open access: yes, 1996
The advent of modern diffractometers has overcome the old film techniques that were used during the past years. One reason is that computer-controlled diffractometers made available data in a formal ready for the analyses, and the intensities obtained do

Tailored Catalytic Microenvironments Enable Efficient Electrochemical Ammonia Production

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study shows that Co2+ substitution in inverse spinel FeFeCoO4 constructs an integrated catalytic microenvironment for efficient nitrate‐to‐ammonia reduction. Jahn–Teller distortion activates Fe sites for *H generation, while hard–soft acid–base regulated dual‐metal sites optimize proton‐coupled electron transfer and intermediate adsorption ...
