Ceramic Particle‐Reinforced Medium‐Entropy Alloys With Outstanding Mechanical Properties Prepared by Novel Micro‐LPBF

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An innovative medium entropy alloy (MEA) composite material was fabricated via micro laser powder bed fusion (μ‐LPBF) with appropriate nano‐ceramic particles doping and exhibited markedly improved overall performance, including synergistically enhanced strength and ductility, increased hardness and compressive strength, improved wear resistance and ...

Transition-metal distribution in kagome antiferromagnet CoCu3(OH)6Cl2 revealed by resonant x-ray diffraction

open access: yes, 2013
The distribution of chemically similar transition-metal ions is a fundamental issue in the study of herbertsmithite-type kagome antiferromagnets. Using synchrotron radiation, we have performed resonant powder x-ray diffractions on newly synthesized CoCu3(

Strain‐Programmable Luminescent Adhesive Patch With Tartrazine‐Mediated Optical Skin Clearing for Photochemical Tissue Bonding

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We propose a suture‐complementary approach that integrates optical skin clearing with a strain‐programmable luminescent adhesive patch. Hyaluronic acid promotes transdermal delivery of tartrazine to improve optical clearing and stabilizes its interaction with a photosensitizer. Optical clearing increases the penetration depth of visible light into skin,

Rietveld refinement of Sr5(AsO4)3Cl from high-resolution synchrotron data

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E, 2009
The apatite-type compound, pentastrontium tris[arsenate(V)] chloride, Sr5(AsO4)3Cl, has been synthesized by ion exchange at high temperature from a synthetic sample of mimetite [Pb5(AsO4)3Cl] with SrCO3 as a by-product.

Halide‐Dependent Photoluminescence and Heavy‐Atom Effects in Low‐Melting Organic–Inorganic Manganese Halides

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Two pyridinium‐based ionic liquid templated hybrid manganese halides, (C4Py)2[MnCl4] and (C4Py)2[MnBr4], display similar bulk structures but show significantly different photoluminescence behaviors due to the bromine heavy‐atom effect. Their stable local Mn environments remain intact even in the molten state, allowing applications such as luminescence ...

Investigating phase transition and morphology of Bi-Te thermoelectric system

open access: yesMaterials Today Advances, 2020
The optimization of secondary phase in thermoelectric (TE) materials can help to improve the efficiency of the material. Being a potential candidate for lower temperature TE application, bismuth telluride (Bi2Te3) nanoparticles were synthesized via ...

Refined Structure of Metastable Ice XVII from Neutron Diffraction Measurements

open access: yes, 2016
The structure of the recently identified metastable ice XVII, obtained by release of hydrogen from the C$_0$ D$_2$O-H$_2$ compound (filled ice), has been accurately measured by neutron powder diffraction.

Rietveld structure refinement of microcline

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Mineralogy, 2015
Compared with single-crystal X-ray diffraction, extracting structural data from X-ray powder diffraction (XRPD) seems meaningless for minerals with an available single crystal, such as alkali feldspar. However, alkali feldspar is highly abundant on Earth, and the feldspar structure is important in geology.

Tailoring K+/Vacancy Disordered Layered Oxide via Charge Engineering for Stabilizing High‐Performance Potassium‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
With a charge‐ion coupling engineering strategy, a K+/vacancy disordered K0.5Mn0.8Co0.1Ti0.1O2 material has been designed. The targeted transition metal doping disrupts charge ordering and inducing K+/vacancy disordering, thereby enabling rapid K+ diffusion through interconnected channels and a stable solid‐solution reaction mechanism.
