NEW INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY AND ITS CAPACITIES FOR MODELING OF GEOSYSTEMS

open access: yesГеодинамика и тектонофизика, 2015
Numerical solution of the Navier-Stokes equations for free and forced convection in solid and porous media is challenging as an evolution equation for pressure is lacking. An information technology is proposed on the basis of a new system of hydrodynamic

Machine Learning‐Driven Classification and Production Capacity Prediction of Tight Sandstone Reservoirs: A Case Study of the Taiyuan Formation, Ordos Basin

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
On the basis of core and log data, a Bayesian‐Optimized Random Forest model achieved 92.76% accuracy in classifying tight sandstone reservoirs. A gray relational analysis‐derived evaluation index shows > 80% consistency with actual gas zones. ABSTRACT Tight sandstone gas (TSG), an unconventional oil–gas resource, has heterogeneous reservoirs ...

PREDICTED SEDIMENTARY SECTION OF SUBGLACIAL LAKE VOSTOK

open access: yesЛëд и снег, 2015
In early February 2012, the drill hole at the Vostok Station encountered theLakeVostokwater. This step is important to study the lake composition including possible microbial life and to model subglacial environments however, the next ambitious target of

Rift Valley Fever [PDF]

open access: yesClinics in Laboratory Medicine, 2017
Rift Valley fever (RVF) is a severe veterinary disease of livestock that also causes moderate to severe illness in people. The life cycle of RVF is complex and involves mosquitoes, livestock, people, and the environment. RVF virus is transmitted from either mosquitoes or farm animals to humans, but is generally not transmitted from person to person ...

Development and Application of a Simplified Method for Preliminary Assessment of Enhanced Oil Recovery and CO2 Geological Storage in Petroleum Reservoirs

open access: yesGreenhouse Gases: Science and Technology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Geologic carbon storage in depleted oil and gas reservoirs is a key CO2 mitigation strategy, utilizing existing infrastructure such as injection wells and pipelines, while capitalizing on well‐characterized subsurface properties. This article introduces a versatile methodology designed to estimate critical parameters, including the number of ...

Large‐Scale Extensional Strain in Southern Tibet From Sentinel‐1 InSAR and GNSS Data

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters
In this study, we utilize C‐band Sentinel‐1 radar images from 2015 to 2022, combined with interseismic horizontal GNSS velocities, to construct large‐scale, high‐resolution, 3‐D velocity and strain rate maps over a vast region of southern Tibet.

The latest geodynamics in Central Asia: primary and secondary mantle melting anomalies in the context of orogenesis, rifting, and lithospheric plate motions and interactions

open access: yesГеодинамика и тектонофизика, 2017
A comprehensive model for deep dynamics in Asia has been developed from the data on the evolution of melting anomalies in the context of lithospheric plate motions, interactions, orogeny, and rifting.

The Twofold Limit of Objects: Problematising Timothy Morton’s Rift in Light of Eugenio Trías’s Notion of Limit

open access: yesOpen Philosophy, 2020
The ontological abyss that separates real objects from sensual objects is one of the central principles of Object-Oriented Ontology (OOO), which has its most explicit and profuse modulation in Timothy Morton’s notion of rift.

Cap rock efficiency of geothermal systems in fold-and-thrust belts: Evidence from paleo-thermal and structural analyses in Rosario de La Frontera geothermal area (NW Argentina) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Cap rock characterization of geothermal systems is often neglected despite fracturing may reduce its efficiency and favours fluid migration. We investigated the siliciclastic cap rock of Rosario de La Frontera geothermal system (NW Argentina) in order to

Evidence From Microscopy and U–Pb Geochronology as a Clue to the Influence of the Cretaceous Magmatism in the Diagenesis of Pre‐Salt Carbonate Reservoirs in the Santos Basin (Brazil)

open access: yesGeological Journal, EarlyView.
Carbonates from Santos Basin revealed U–Pb ages correlated with basalt ages (A), suggesting that they were formed during magmatic events. These events placed hot CO2 in the reservoir, which, when mixed with carbonate‐rich cold water (B), led to thermal convection, enabling the formation of the U contained in the carbonates.
