Right Atrial Myxoma With Extracardiac Manifestations
Chest, 2000Right atrial myxoma is a rare intracardiac tumor that is often difficult to diagnose. Pulmonary embolism from tumor fragments originating from the tumor mass is a potentially fatal complication. Early diagnosis of cardiac myxoma is important since surgical treatment leads to resolution with low rates of recurrence and good long-term survival.

Myxomas are account for approximately half of primary cardiac tumors, and 75% cases originate in left atrium. We report our experience of a right atrial myxoma. A 68-year-old woman was referred to us due to anorexia, general fatigue and facial edema.
