In this work, melt electrowriting is used to fabricate a 3D printed scaffold design that generates engineered cardiac tissues with in‐plane contraction, mimicking natural myocardium. It is shown that these tissues display advanced maturation and functionality.

How rare is isolated rheumatic tricuspid valve disease? [PDF]
The incidence of rheumatic fever (RF) has markedly decreased in Europe since the beginning of the 20th century due to improved living conditions, early antibiotic therapy in streptococcal pharyngitis, and changes in serotypes of circulating streptococci.

SUBCLINICAL CONGESTION from physical examination to prognosis: translating a mechanical model into an ultrasound approach [PDF]
Background: subclinical pulmonary and peripheral congestion is an emerging concept in heart failure, correlated with a worse prognosis. Very few studies have evaluated its prognostic impact in an outpatient setting and its relationship with right ...

A Multi-Trait Approach Identified Genetic Variants Including a Rare Mutation in RGS3 with Impact on Abnormalities of Cardiac Structure/Function [PDF]
Heart failure is a major cause for premature death. Given heterogeneity of the heart failure syndrome, identifying genetic determinants of cardiac function and structure may provide greater insights into heart failure. Despite progress in understanding the genetic basis of heart failure through genome wide association studies, heritability of heart ...

Inter‐Layer Diffusion of Excitations in 2D Perovskites Revealed by Photoluminescence Reabsorption
Inter‐layer diffusion of photoexcitations is monitored in thin films of the 2D perovskite (PEA)2PbI4 by tracking time‐dependent changes in photoluminescence spectra induced by photon reabsorption effects. A low out‐of‐plane excitation diffusion coefficient of 0.26 × 10−4 cm2 s−1 is determined through 1D diffusion modeling.

Interplay between right ventricular function and cardiac resynchronization therapy : an analysis of the CARE-HF trial (cardiac resynchronization–heart failure) [PDF]
Objectives: The aim of this study was to investigate the impact of cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) on right ventricular (RV) function and the influence of RV dysfunction on the echocardiographic and clinical response to CRT among patients ...

High‐Speed and Scalable Wet Spinning of Graphene/Liquid Crystalline Elastomer Composite Filaments
Polydomain filaments from graphene/liquid crystalline elastomer (LCE) composites are scalably‐manufactured by wet spinning across a wide range of diameters (≈137–1128 µm) at a speed up to 4500 m h−1 through a double diffusion coagulation mechanism, enabling fast actuation and optimized mechanical performance for broad applications.

Real event detection and the treatment of congestive heart failure: an e fficient technique to help cardiologists to make crucial decisions [PDF]
Using a method of entropic analysis of time series we establish the correlation between heartbeat long-range memory and mortality risk in patients with congestive heart failure.
