Dynamic performance analysis of different spans in rigid catenary
Abstract Utilizing a rigid catenary overhead line in long tunnels can reduce initial investment and lower subsequent operational and maintenance costs. To improve the stability of the contact force between the pantograph and the catenary, an equivalent beam element for the rigid catenary is established, and the differential equation for ...

A Design of an Axisymmetric Roof With a Horizontal Rotation Axis
ABSTRACT This research proposes a novel roof design whose shape follows the mathematical model of an ideal hanging surface. The resulting roof is a surface of revolution, but its rotation axis is horizontal, which challenges conventional intuition because the axis is perpendicular to the direction of gravity.

An experimental study of a circular cylinder's two-degree-of-freedom motion induced by vortex
This paper presents results of an experimental investigation of vortex-induced vibration (VIV) of a flexibly mounted and rigid cylinder with two-degrees-of-freedom with respect to varying ratio of in-line natural frequency to cross-flow natural frequency,

TWO-NODE CATENARY CABLE ELEMENT WITH RIGID-END EFFECT AND CABLE SHAPE ANALYSIS
The effect of rigid ends is considered in the formulation of a general two-node cable element for the analysis of cable-supported structures. The stiffness matrix of the catenary cable element was derived as the inverse of the flexibility matrix, with allowances for self-weight and pretension effects.

ABSTRACT Computationally efficient frequency‐domain models can play a very important role in facilitating conceptual design optimization of floating wind turbines (FWTs). However, achieving sufficient accuracy in such models is challenging due to the nonlinear variation of the aerodynamic loads, particularly the interaction between the floating ...
