Contact Lens Fitting in Keratoconus

open access: yesDelhi Journal of Ophthalmology, 2010
Keratoconus is a progressive, non-inflammatory, asymmetric ectatic corneal disorder that results in high amount of myopia and astigmatic refractive error. Early cases may be managed by spectacles; however, the definitive management is use of contact lens.

New Osmosis Law and Theory: the New Formula that Replaces van't Hoff Osmotic Pressure Equation

open access: yes, 2012
This article derived a new abstract concept from the osmotic process and concluded it via "osmotic force" with a new law -- "osmotic law". The "osmotic law" describes that, in an osmotic system, osmolyte moves osmotically from the side with higher ...

Additive Manufacturing of Patient‐Specific Intracranial Aneurysm Cell Culture Models

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Patient‐specific intracranial aneurysm models were fabricated using chocolate moulding, 3D printed water‐soluble cores, and direct resin 3D printing. Moulding PDMS around sacrificial cores made of chocolate or 3D printed water‐soluble resin yielded accurate, expandable, and endothelializable models that outperformed resin‐based approaches.

The short-term effects of PMMA and RGP contact lens wear on keratometric behaviour: a pilot study*

open access: yesAfrican Vision and Eye Health, 2010
This article represents the preliminary findings of a larger study that included 24 subjects that were equally divided into three groups, namely, the PMMA (polymethyl methacrylate) group, the RGP(rigid gas permeable) group and the control group.

Magnetic Textiles: A Review of Materials, Fabrication, Properties, and Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Magnetic textiles (M‐textiles) are emerging as a programmable materials platform that merges magnetic matter with hierarchical textile structures. This article consolidates magnetic material classes, textile architectures, and fabrication and magnetization strategies, revealing structure–property–function relationships that govern magneto‐mechanical ...

Shaping Carbon Nitrides for Advanced Macrostructures

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
This review examines how carbon nitride can be shaped through a range of printing and interfacial assembly methods. By bringing together additive manufacturing and liquid–liquid structuring concepts, carbon nitride is moving beyond its traditional powder‐based photocatalyst form toward digitally designed robust macroscale architectures with high design

Star-triangle equivalence in soap froths

open access: yes, 2003
In two dimensional foams at equilibrium, triangular bubbles can be freely exchanged with 3-fold stars --three edges ending at a central vertex. This theorem is deduced here from Moukarzel's duality. Moreover, to probe the method, a few related properties

A Perspective on the Applications of Triphasic Gas Storage in Electrochemical Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Gas storage in microporous materials positioned locally at an electrode or electrocatalyst surface enhances electrochemical processes. Abstract Microporous materials store gases under dry conditions (e.g., hydrogen or oxygen via physisorption), but in some cases microporous materials also show triphasic (e.g., in a solid|gas|liquid system) gas storage ...
