Review and Applications of Rigorous Coupled-Wave Analysis of Grating Diffraction
Diffractive Optics: Design, Fabrication, and Applications, 1992The diffraction of electromagnetic waves by periodic structures continues to be of great interest and practical importance owing to numerous applications in a variety of fields such as acousto-optics, electrooptics, integrated optics, spectroscopy, optical computing, optical interconnects, and quantum electronics. Optical gratings may be planar (slab,

Rigorous coupled-wave analysis for lamellar grating with period modulation
2013 International Conference on Electromagnetics in Advanced Applications (ICEAA), 2013This paper considers the electromagnetic scattering problem of a lamellar grating with period modulation, and presents a formulation based on the rigorous coupled-wave analysis (RCWA). The RCWA is originally developed to analyze the plane-wave scattering from perfectly periodic structures, and uses the pseudo-periodic property of the fields.

Rigorous coupled-wave analysis of unilateral Smith–Purcell radiation from asymmetric resonators
Applied OpticsThe Smith–Purcell radiation produced by electrons moving closely to a grating can be enhanced by resonances. Here, we show a method to manipulate the directionality of the resonance-enhanced radiation. Using the rigorous coupled-wave analysis method, we compare the radiation from symmetric and asymmetric gratings, showing that the enhanced Smith ...
