Persistent Mortality Risk From Device-related Healthcare-associated Infection in Kidney Transplant Recipients Despite Multifaceted Interventions Action Calls for a Zero-tolerance Policy

open access: yesTransplantation Direct
Background. Although multifaceted control intervention actions (bundles) are highly effective in reducing the risk of device-related healthcare-associated infections (d-HAIs), no studies have explored their impact on the outcomes of kidney transplant ...

Quantifying the Impact of Ocrelizumab on Paramagnetic Rim Lesions in Multiple Sclerosis

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Paramagnetic rim lesions (PRLs) are a subset of chronic active multiple sclerosis (MS) lesions marked by iron‐laden microglia and macrophages. Ocrelizumab, a monoclonal antibody targeting CD20+ B cells, suppresses acute MS activity, but its effect on PRLs remains unclear. In a longitudinal study of 29 ocrelizumab‐treated patients with at least

Multifaceted Control Interventions for Healthcare-associated Infections in a Kidney Transplant Intensive Care Unit: Clinical Outcome Improvement and Bundle Adherence

open access: yesTransplantation Direct
Background. Healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) are preventable complications that overwhelm the healthcare system. The implementation of multifaceted control intervention actions in the intensive care setting modifies clinical outcomes, but its ...

Pointwise convergence of sequential Schrödinger means

open access: yesJournal of Inequalities and Applications, 2023
We study pointwise convergence of the fractional Schrödinger means along sequences t n $t_{n}$ that converge to zero. Our main result is that bounds on the maximal function sup n | e i t n ( − Δ ) α / 2 f | $\sup_{n} |e^{it_{n}(-\Delta )^{\alpha /2}} f| $

Understanding Further the Phenotypic Spectrum of Central Nervous System Inflammatory Demyelinating Disorders Using Unsupervised Clustering

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Central nervous system (CNS) inflammatory demyelinating syndromes, including multiple sclerosis (MS), aquaporin‐4 antibody–positive neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (AQP4 + NMOSD), and myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein (MOG) antibody–associated disease (MOGAD), occasionally overlap.

T1 Over Squared Proton Density Ratio to Characterize Multiple Sclerosis Lesions

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Differentiating remyelinated from demyelinated lesions in MS remains challenging without histological confirmation. This study introduces the T1‐to‐PD2 ratio (TPR) imaging approach and evaluates its ability to characterize MS lesions alongside other quantitative MRI (qMRI) metrics. Methods Thirty individuals with MS (mean age: 47.5 ±

Rims of Cantor trees

open access: yesIllinois Journal of Mathematics, 2000
An abstract graph is a planar tree if it is connected, has no cycles and any pair of edges has no intersection outside the vertices. The authors use along the paper the word tree to denote those planar trees \(T\) whose set \(V\) of vertices is a subset of the open unit disc \({\mathbf D}=\{z\in \mathbb{C}: |z| 0\biggr\}.

A Rim-Metrizable Continuum [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the American Mathematical Society, 1995
A locally connected rim-metrizable continuum is constructed which admits a continuous mapping onto a non rim-metrizable space.

Air‐Pressure–Actuated Vibroacoustic Metamaterial With Tunable Bandgap: Design, Modeling, and Characterization

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This article presents the design, modeling, and characterization of air‐pressure–actuated programmable vibroacoustic metamaterials (PVAMM). The study focuses on leveraging air pressure to dynamically tune resonance frequencies for effective noise attenuation.

Recycling of NiTi Shape Memory Alloys: Fundamental and Technological Aspects of a Vacuum Induction Melting Processing Route

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The present study investigates recycling of NiTi shape memory alloys via vacuum induction melting. An ingot was synthesized from elemental Ni and Ti and subjected to three subsequent remelting cycles. Remelting increases process durations and impurity levels and adversely affects microstructures and functional properties.
