Thermoreflectance Detection of Point Defects Resulting from Focused Ion Beam Milling

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Focused ion beam (FIB) milling is a common tool for nanoscale material processing, however irradiation damage, redeposition, and contamination can occur. We use several characterization tools to show FIB‐induced effects beyond 1 mm from the milled area.

Anti-SARS-CoV-2 Seroconversion in COVID-19 Convalescent Kidney Transplant Recipients Compared with Non-transplanted Patients

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Transplantation, 2023
Objective: Due to immunosuppression, kidney transplant recipients (KTRs) might have lower seroconversion after COVID-19 than non-KTRs. Thus, we aimed to evaluate the seroconversion rate after COVID-19 between KTRs and non- KTRs.

Writing for Professional Development and for the Profession [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
The records and information management (RIM) field needs its professionals to write and contribute to the field’s knowledge, but many do not do so because they are not aware of many basic, helpful tools available to them.

A hydrodynamical study of multiple-shell planetary nebulae. III. Expansion properties and internal kinematics: Theory versus observation

open access: yes, 2014
We present the result of a study on the expansion properties and internal kinematics of round/elliptical planetary nebulae of the Milky Way disk, the halo, and of the globular cluster M15.

Interactions between Molten High‐Silicon Electrical Steels and Carbon‐Bonded MgO Refractories Based on Recyclates

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study examines how several molten high‐silicon electrical steels interact with both conventional and recycled MgO–C refractories. For this, various immersion experiments are conducted. In addition to infiltration, a number of mechanisms are identified and explained that control the corrosion of the refractory material.

Revealing the sub-AU asymmetries of the inner dust rim in the disk around the Herbig Ae star R CrA

open access: yes, 2009
Models predict that in the innermost AU of the disk around Herbig Ae/Be star, the dust disk forms a "puffed-up" inner rim, which should result in a strongly asymmetric brightness distribution for disks seen under intermediate inclination.

Interplay between distribution of live cells and growth dynamics of solid tumours [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Experiments show that simple diffusion of nutrients and waste molecules is not sufficient to explain the typical multilayered structure of solid tumours, where an outer rim of proliferating cells surrounds a layer of quiescent but viable cells and a ...

Oxide‐Free Titanium Coatings by Wire Arc Spraying in a Silane‐Doped Inert Atmosphere

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A silane‐doped argon atmosphere enables the production of oxide‐free titanium coatings via twin‐wire arc spraying at ambient pressure. This innovative approach eliminates residual oxygen, creating process conditions that prevent oxidation and nitride formation.
